Please remember that we're closed today for the bank holiday Monday. We'll be back in the shop again tomorrow!

This photo is a beautiful order that we packed to send out. Both Dylan and Ella were enchanted by the colour selection!

We hope you're enjoying your projects out in the sunshine! Knitting in beer gardens, crocheting on the beach? We'd love to hear about it!

Summer Sale!

We're starting the summer with a lovely big sale!

Starting now we have a shop-wide sale on all of our yarn, kits, books, needles, hooks - pretty much everything we sell! The only items excluded are workshops, membership, gift cards and a few items that we sell on consignment such as hand-made project bags. The sale applies to items that are in stock only.

Everything on sale is 15% off for the next two weeks, from now until the end of Sunday 31st May. For shopping online you can use the code BIGSUMMERSALE

Our wonderful members have an extra treat of 20% off using their usual membership discount code during the same period. So if you're a member use the usual discount code rather than the one above! Just let us know if we can help at all.

This could be an ideal time to plan your Autumn/Winter makes and get the yarn in ready to go! Perhaps even pick out some kits and books for gifting later in the year!

The discount code can be used for multiple orders, so you're welcome to shop a little at a time over the next two weeks and make the most of the sale!

Our next Wet-felting workshop is this Monday afternoon and there are still places available to book here: https://www.woolontheexe.com/products/wet-felting-for-beginners

It's been a while since we last hosted a wet-felting workshop so we thought we'd share some photos of what we made last time.

Everyone started out by making flat felt pictures. These could be completely abstract or could be anything you like really! This is such a creative way to play with wool and there is no wrong way to do it! The pictures are made by separating and laying lengths of wool fibre tops to create an artwork - at this stage it's almost like playing with fuzzy felt (remember those!?) but a little more free rein. Then comes the felting part; the picture is soaked and manually agitated, mostly using a roller, until the fibres fuse so that the wool becomes felt. This part is quite hands-on and lots of fun!

Next our participants used a resist (a soft piece of plastic cut in a circle shape) to make a 3d item, a little woollen vessel. It's a similar method to making the picture but this time you cut into your felt to remove the resist and form the 3d shape.

The felting process is lots of fun; quite physical and very therapeutic! Overall the whole experience is quite magical! And the finished items always look wonderful. Our fabulous teacher, Ali will guide you through, and inspire you to have fun making something different with wool! https://www.woolontheexe.com/products/wet-felting-for-beginners
