I’d forgotten how nice it is to do something this simple 🍎🍏

We spent the morning wandering through Drove Orchards on the North Norfolk coast, basket in hand, picking apples straight from the trees. There are around 160 varieties grown here, many with East Anglian roots, so half the fun was finding ones we’d never even heard of. And the best bit? You can actually taste before deciding which ones are coming home with you.

It felt like harvest season properly starting — sunshine, a heritage orchard near Thornham, PYO apples and a basket getting heavier by the minute. We were already discussing apple crumble before we’d even left the rows. One of those simple North Norfolk autumn outings that just feels right at this time of year.

From orchard to bottle, our apple juice never travels too far. 🍎

After the apples have been picked and pressed, the next step in the journey takes place right here at Drove Orchards.

Here, the juice is bottled, pasteurised and labelled by hand by our small on-site team - ready to make its final short journey to the Farm Shop.

Today is Day, and with farming at the very heart of Drove, we’re proud to celebrate it.

Over a century ago, our family established the farm here on the North Norfolk coast, and each generation since has cared for the land while building on what came before.

From planting our first orchards in the 1950s to growing more than 140 varieties of fruit today, farming, nature and the land continue to shape who we are.

We’re proud to support British farming and the farmers who work with nature, care for our landscapes and produce the food we enjoy every day.

Pick your own, your way. 🍎🌿

No booking. No entry fee. No fuss.

Our PYO is open whenever the Farm Shop is, so simply turn up, head to the orchard and get picking. Bring something to pick into if you can, or pop into the shop first for directions and a bag.

Once you’ve filled your basket, head back to the shop to weigh up and pay. And on certain days, you might even find Geoff (and Pippin the pooch) waiting in the PYO hut to help you out.

The word is out: The Red Cabin is coming to Drove.

Tucked amongst our heritage orchards and the wild beauty of the farm, this off-grid luxury cabin is made for slowing down, breathing in the fresh air and enjoying the simple pleasures of this corner of Norfolk.

With a private sauna, hot tub and cold plunge, it’s a lovely place to switch off – with plenty to explore just beyond the cabin too. Wander through the orchards, follow the footpaths to the coast, or pop in to see some of our other villagers for a bite to eat, a glass of something good or a spot of shopping.

We heard it’s , and quite frankly, we couldn’t resist giving our four-legged friends a special mention.

At Drove, dogs are always part of the adventure, with plenty of open space to explore, dog-friendly spots across the village, and even North Norfolk Dog Training right here on-site.
