🧵✨ Greenlaw Community Course Students ✨🧵

Week 3 already!

So far, our Greenlaw students have been busy making drawstring gift bags, sample & skills week, and already on week 3 they have made gorgeous zipped pouches. 🪡✂️

They’re learning new techniques, building confidence and developing their sewing skills along the way. 🧵✨

And watch this space… 👀 We’ll soon be sharing a post all about the products made by our Main & Community Course students, using donated textiles and giving them a second lease of life while women learn new skills that can last a lifetime. ♻️❤️

🧵✨ Main Course Students ✨🧵

Week 3 already!!
So far they’ve made drawstring gift bags, peg bags and this week, they’re getting ready for those colder months with draft excluders. 🍂

Along the way, they’re learning so much more than simply using a sewing machine, from sewing in a circle and patchwork, to working together to turn little scraps of waste fabric into stuffing for their draft excluders. ♻️🪡✂️

Learning skills, building confidence, reducing waste and creating something useful along the way. ❤️

We are coming to the end of the second week of new courses in Eyemouth and Greenlaw and our autumn courses always signify the shift into the last quarter of the year but this morning the sun is shining ☀️ and the moon is still visible in the clear blue sky 🌙

Join us at ReTweed for our relaxed, self-led Creative Workshop Sessions. Bring along your sewing, crafting or creative project and enjoy a dedicated space to make, create and connect.

🗓️ Thursdays | 10am–2pm
💷 £6 per person – includes use of a sewing machine

Our space includes:
🪡 6 hireable sewing machines
🪑 Dedicated desk workspace
✂️ Sewing tools, scissors & haberdashery
☕ Tea & coffee
🧵 Threads, ribbon, buttons & a selection of zips
✨ Friendly, relaxed atmosphere

Fabric and interfacing aren’t included, but our donated fabric is available to purchase on the day for £10 per kg.

Behind the scenes ✂️🧵

A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers for all their hard work behind the scenes! ❤️

From sorting and organising donations, cutting and preparing materials for TWO courses starting this week, to carrying out some essential sewing machine maintenance 🪛. There’s always plenty happening behind the scenes to get everything ready.

We couldn’t do it without you! 🙌

🎓✨ Celebrating our latest graduates! 🧵❤️

What a few months it’s been! We’re incredibly proud to celebrate everyone who has recently completed our Main Sewing Course, Community Course and Level 2 Advanced Course. 🎉

From those first stitches and learning the basics, to building confidence, developing new skills and creating more advanced pieces. It’s been wonderful to watch everyone’s creativity, confidence and sewing skills grow. 🧵✨

👏 A huge well done to all our graduates! You should be incredibly proud of everything you’ve achieved.

And a massive shoutout to our incredible trainers and volunteers who make these courses possible. Your knowledge, patience, encouragement and support make such a difference to our students, and we couldn’t do it without you!

Thank you to everyone for being part of the ReTweed community and for filling our workshop with creativity, laughter, friendship and plenty of beautiful handmade pieces. 😍

We’re taking a little break to celebrate the achievements of our recent students at their Graduation Event on Tuesday 11th August.
