Two Falkland women fought the law and won, during the Great Scottish Witch-Hunt of 1661/62?

In the old stable block of the shop, you will also find old coins hammered into the woodwork, this is an old Fife folk tradition to bring luck and to ward off witches touching the horses, as it was believed witches couldn’t touch base metals.

This was due to the Lomond Hills being associated with witches, as it was believed to be a meeting place of their covens.

Learn more about them and the darker chapters of this former royal burgh’s past on our upcoming dark history and ghost tours this October. Uncover the witch-hysteria, the plague and family rivalries much darker than any episode of Game of Thrones.. and much more.
