They knew they were changing history. They didn't know they would change each other.

We're looking forward to welcoming Joanna Miller, author of THE EIGHTS, to Falmouth in early September! The Eights is a brilliant historical novel following the first cohort of female students admitted to Oxford University in 1920s.

Oxford, 1920.

For the first time in its 1,000-year history, the world’s most famous university has admitted female students. Giddy with dreams of equality, education and emancipation, four young women move into neighbouring rooms on Corridor Eight and find themselves thrust into an unlikely, life-affirming friendship. They have come here from all walks of life, but Dora, Beatrice, Otto and Marianne all long to move on from the Great War, whose ghosts, grief, and secrets still feel very real indeed.

But Oxford is a place caught between tradition and change, where centuries of misogyny and exclusion clash with the promise of new freedoms. And as the group navigate this tumultuous moment in time under the city’s dreaming spires, their friendship will become more important than ever.

OK Dungeon Crawler fans! We've committed to stocking all eight but honestly, there isn't room on the shelf for all of them at once. If you can't find the one you're looking for, just ask as we've probably hidden it somewhere 👀💀

We are so pleased that The Sea Child is now in paperback! We heard all about it from author Linda Wilgus at our event earlier in the year about Cornish-set fiction. The Sea Child is a gorgeous historical novel with layers of magic and folklore 🌊

The Cornish coast. A handsome smuggler. A love story for the ages.

Isabel has always been a woman of mystery. As a child of four, she appeared on the Cornish shore, soaking wet, unable to speak. The villagers believed she was brought from the sea, the daughter of a spirit. Now, newly widowed, Isabel feels the ocean calling her to come back home.

And when Jack Carlyon, an injured smuggler, crosses her path, she is swept up into a love story that will test her courage, her reputation, and her heart. Jack plays a dangerous game, and there are those that would hang him if they knew what he was. Isabel fights to make sense of the magical pull of the ocean and wants to protect Jack – but at what cost?

She is a daughter of the sea. He is a man of the land. Can they overcome the odds to be together?
