Faversham Book Fair returns this Saturday, 23rd May, at The Alexander Centre, Preston Street. There is a full house of dealers. Free Admission. 9.30 to 3.00. Refreshments available.

Just a reminder, that the next Faversham Book Fair takes place next Saturday 21st March. 9.30 to 3.00 at The Alexander Centre. Free Admission. The cafe will also be open during the day.

Venue Update Following the Fire

We wanted to share a further update on progress. Contractors have now completed the strip out of the hall, taking it back to brick — it’s currently an empty shell with blockwork walls and a concrete floor.

Planning for the rebuild is well underway, with ongoing discussions involving architects, mechanical and engineering consultants, acoustic engineers and theatrical technical advisors.

While the aim is to reinstate the building on a like-for-like basis, the Board of Directors is committed to improving facilities wherever possible — creating a future-proofed, sustainable venue our town can be proud of.

How You Can Help: The best way to support The Alex is by booking and attending our events. While not all events will take place here as planned, your support makes a real difference.

UK: Faversham Book Fair, Saturday 24th January
Despite the recent fire at the Alexander Centre, the Faversham Book Fair continues. Dealers with hundreds of years experience between them, offering a full range from inexpensive paperbacks to collectible tomes, ephemera and art. We look forward to welcoming all at our next fair on Saturday 24th January. Free entry to all from 9.30- 3pm, ramp access, dogs welcome, and all the facilities of the Alexander Centre available. If you are near in Faversham on Saturday 24th January do pop in and visit the Book Fair! This is my first time attending. I'll be there demoing some book and paper cons with also my notebooks for sale. Feel free to come and ask me any questions you might have about looking after your book and paper collections at home or if you have anything you think might need a bit if TLC from a conservator 📚📜✉️

Following the fire, construction teams are now on site and have begun stripping out the hall. The main building has been fully sealed off from the rest of the venue, allowing us to continue thorough cleaning and sanitising. Our front rooms remain fully operational and are available to hire for meetings, workshops, and smaller events.

We’ve been working non-stop to relocate as many of our scheduled events as possible to other Faversham venues, and we want to say a huge thank you to The Arden Theatre, St Mary’s Church, The Old Brewery Store, and The Assembly Rooms for their incredible support.

We’re also incredibly thankful for the many kind messages and well-wishes we’ve received from the public — your support has meant so much to us. Finally, thank you to everyone who continues to book our events; this remains the very best way to support us, and we’re truly grateful 💛
