Check out this amazing Tunisian crochet sampler created by Caroline Halstead in some lovely West Yorkshire Spinners Croft DK.
Tunisian crochet is a craft that combines elements that are familiar from both knitting and crochet to create something very special and differnet.
Caroline and Helen Bell will be introducing crafters to the basics of Tunisian crochet and a selection of stitch patterns in our workshop this Saturday, 19 September.

has found a woolly way to celebrate the Hop Festival.

We have Longcroft Longwools in stock and we're open all day on Saturday, so you could add some yarn shopping to your festival activities.

A hat with a story.

The latest issue of Knitting Magazine is themed around UK yarns with stories to tell - small producers, eco yarns, low yarn miles etc.

Almost on my doorstep here in Faversham, Kent, is Longcroft Longwools where Ali Parsons has raised a prize winning flock Wensleydale sheep - both the sheep and the fleece win at shows round the country. The yarn is sold at my local yarn shop, the lovely The Yarn Dispensary in the centre of town.

I realised that the magazine would be out just before on of the big weekends of the local year, the Hop Festival - a weekend of music and b**r that grew out of celebrations local agricultural heritage. Many attendees wear hops round their hats or hop crowns.

And so I couldn't resist coming up with the woolly equivalent - the Hop Crown beanie, especially given how gorgeous the green in the Longcoft DK is.

Somehow I think it is going to be too warm for me to wear the hat tomorrow. But it will bring some hop festival fun through out the winter.
