Anybody who knows me, and especially those who have worked with me, know I can be obsessive about the window displays in Treasure Chest. I’m always squeezing more books in, finding books that are relevant to current events or which catch the eye, checking prices are clear and titles are easy to see. I think it’s worth the time as we do sell so many books from our window, and it does provide a daily workout for booksellers.
So I was excited to find this book from 1912. I’ve just dipped in so far, nothing about books but I must read the sections on
Bathing the Baby (?)
Patriotic Occasions,
Butterfly-Mechanical,
Frozen windows, prevention of
Imitation flame
(The last one seems to involve a box with asbestos so perhaps not)
But I do agree with its overall assessment on the importance of a good window display. I just need to decide whether our customers are ultra fashionable or the popular class of trade
