A lot of people come into the shop and say "hello, what are you reading at the moment?" and unless they also say "I'm not interested in anybody using time distortions to show the tragedies and triumphs of the human condition" then I say "Assorted Crisis Events".
Somebody I know recently described Assorted Crisis Events as "showing what the medium can be" and he was absolutely 100% correct. These are jaw dropping comics.
If you have come into the shop at some point then you have probably already heard me telling you or somebody else how great the first volume was. Well, the second one is here now and it's more of the same.
There are four stories in this - and the first one, on its own, is worth the price of the book. It tells the story of Sasha & John, husband and wife. However John keeps changing, he keeps getting younger and older and sometimes he doesn't recognise Sasha at all. And Sasha has to look after him, even though it's difficult, because she loves him and they're married and that's just what she has to do. It's a story about love, about getting old and duties and humanity, and what thousands or millions of people do every day.
These comics are Deniz Camp and Eric Zawadzki (and Tom Muller) with the guardrails off. They're experimental and emotional and funny and wonderful.
