There is a major fire burning close to the A31, which is currently CLOSED in both directions — expected to remain shut until at least Thursday 20 August. Expect extra traffic and delays across local roads and the New Forest as diversions are in place — please allow extra time for your journey! 🚗⏳

🔥 FIRE SAFETY — PLEASE HELP:

• ❌ NO barbecues or campfires anywhere in the open forest — it's bone dry and highly flammable

• ❌ NEVER throw cigarette butts out of car windows — one spark could start a massive blaze

• 🚒 Firefighters have been working tirelessly for days — please give them space and don't add to their workload

• 🚙 Follow official diversion routes — don't rely on satellite navigation
