UniFi WiFi 7 Upgrade Completed in Frome

Nice little upgrade in Frome last week. The property was running old Apple Airport WiFi 5 units alongside the BT router WiFi, which meant slow speeds and patchy coverage.

We installed a UniFi WiFi 7 system, tidied everything up, and built a far more reliable setup. The client now has:

📶 Better coverage across the home
🔒 A more robust, modern network
🚀 Much faster and more stable speeds

Loft Network Clean‑Up Outside Bath

Interesting job outside Bath. The loft was a complete tangle of cables, and I found a WiFi access point and heating controller balanced on a cardboard box.

I sorted the loft by reusing an old data cab to mount the switch properly and tidy the cabling. The equipment sitting on the box was moved into the cinema data rack, where it belongs.

Everything now looks far more professional, tidy and secure — a proper finish instead of a loft full of loose kit.

WiFi 7 Upgrade Next to Tower Bridge Today

Nice job completed in London today, just a stone’s throw from Tower Bridge. The client wanted reliable WiFi across their 4‑bed flat, so I installed two UniFi WiFi 7 access points and ran all cabling neatly in conduit at the bottom of a run of cupboards to keep everything discreet.

The PoE switch and power pack were tucked away inside a grey enclosure, keeping the whole setup clean, organised and out of sight. The end result was perfect WiFi coverage throughout the entire flat.

A tidy Starlink installation completed this week in the New Forest.

The Starlink dish was fitted on a two‑slab flat‑roof mount, giving a secure and stable fixing. The dish was then connected straight into my Ruijie 10‑port PoE gateway router, which powered six UniFi U7 access points around the property.

The result — fast Starlink broadband feeding a proper WiFi system with strong coverage everywhere.

WaveTech Southwest carry all the correct Starlink mounts, PoE routers and cabling, so everything can be installed cleanly and correctly on the day.

⚡ External Cable Repair in Bath

Quick job this week in Bath: the network link between a client’s main house and pool house went down after the external data cable was cut by the gardener.

To get everything back online, I fitted an IP‑rated RJ45 inline connector.
It’s fully sealed, keeps water out, and maintains a proper 1000Mbps connection — ideal as a temporary repair.

Long‑term, the cable needs replacing with SWA armoured Cat5e or Cat6.
Armoured cable is designed for outdoor routes and protects against strimmers, spades, rodents and general wear, ensuring it won’t be cut again.

If you’ve got external cabling that’s exposed or keeps getting damaged, I can repair it or upgrade it properly.
