🥁 Drum roll… introducing the newest member of the Clouds and Currents team... Popcorn!!!
Her qualifications are questionable, her productivity is appalling and so far she's shown considerably more interest in eating packaging than helping with it 📦😂
Nevertheless, she's been appointed Head of Morale 🐾 and has arrived just in time for some rather BIG news...
✨ Clouds and Currents will be returning to limited trading in early September. ✨
On 4th January 2024 our workshop flooded. We never imagined that more than 2½ years later we'd still be rebuilding.
Our premises went on to flood eight times. We lost the use of our workshop, our production machinery, computers and much of our stock, with further items affected by prolonged damp, mould and grey-water contamination.
And we didn't just lose our business premises. We lost our home too. 💔
We spent more than two years in temporary accommodation, with a 3 and 6 year old, hundreds of miles from family and friends, moving numerous times in the early months while trying to deal with the impact on both our family and our business.
Our recovery has been made even harder by repeated delays, mistakes and a lack of practical support from some of the organisations and professionals we expected to help us. Much of our time has instead been spent fighting to resolve those issues, some of which remain ongoing.
We'd hoped our return would mean simply unlocking the workshop door and carrying on where we left off. Sadly, that isn't our reality.
We'll initially return with a much smaller range. Each piece of machinery has to be replaced and set up again, and the insurance payments received to date have not been sufficient to replace everything we lost. With significant parts of our claim still unresolved, we're having to rebuild our production capability step by step.
So this isn't the big reopening we'd once imagined. But after such a long time, we're incredibly excited to be creating again.
