Painted Horse Antiques Selling cool old things for relaxed modern living. Loving antique and vintage pieces with colour and function.

All my items are hand-picked from around the Highlands with a few continental pieces cropping up here and there. From little trinkets around £5 to a few larger pieces of furniture up to £1000
I'm always looking for old items - especially ones with interesting colour, texture and/or function.

Matriarchal legacy:
Amazing natural earth pigment colours and beautiful patina on this vintage cultural treasure from Tonga - Polynesia.

This bark cloth (Ngatu) is viewed as tangible cultural wealth (koloa) and used as sacred exchanges in life ceremonies.
Ngatu is made by communal groups of women.
The complex knowledge of plant cultivation, bark-beating, and natural pigment dyeing is passed from mother to daughter, maintaining a living lineage of artistic stewardship.

I got a bit lost reading about it all- fascinating and beautiful.

It's a wee shame I'm putting a price on this- I'm confident it will find a good home though.
