Student opportunity🗣️

Do you know a young person who is always on their phone making videos and could edit content in their sleep?

Bloom Media is hiring a Social Media Production Assistant for Borders Book Festival this June. We're looking for someone under 30 who loves creating content for TikTok, Instagram, or similar platforms and has a good eye for editing.

Editing is at the heart of this role. They'll be turning around authentic content, for a real audience, at speed, across five days of live festival programming. Alongside that, they'll be working as part of a professional team with young people on the Bloom Media programme, helping them to tell their festival stories on camera.

This is not work experience. It's a paid, professional role designed to give an emerging content creator a platform, a portfolio, and access to an environment that might otherwise take years to reach. They'll also receive plenty of learning opportunities and support from a highly experienced team throughout.

They don't need a long CV. They just need to know their way around short-form editing apps, work well with people, and be ready to go.

£625 fee. Five days. Closing date Sunday 3 May 2026.

🎉Yesterday was an incredibly exciting day at Borders College, as Radio 1’s Longest Ride with Greg James for Red Nose Day wrapped up their penultimate day by our Galashiels Campus

⭐️A big thank you to all our student and staff volunteers who helped out with the bucket collection

🔴Our Vice President for Wellbeing & Activities also stepped up to become Parker the Red Nose mascot for the evening. Huge shoutout to Robert!

🕖 The estimated time of arrival at Scottish Borders Campus is 7.00 pm.

As part of Red Nose Day, Radio 1 presenter Greg James is taking on his most epic and entertaining challenge yet. He will cycle 1000 km across the UK over 8 demanding days on a tandem bike!

Greg is no stranger to Comic Relief challenges, but Radio 1’s Longest Ride is set to push him further than ever before.
This will be the biggest and boldest challenge any Radio 1 presenter has taken on, testing both his physical endurance and mental resilience. Greg left Weymouth on 13 March and powered through Wales, the Midlands and the North of England, heading for the finish line in Edinburgh on Friday 20 March, Red Nose Day itself. It is a huge journey, and every mile counts.

This March, a HND Business student is putting their marketing skills into practice during a work placement with the Students’ Association by creating a month-long social media campaign:
