Our founder, Mr Dinning, is standing on the winner's podium at the English Greyhound Derby with his greyhound Shady Begonia. One of the biggest races in the sport.

But that's only part of the story.

After the win, Brough Park named their bar after her. For years, people watching the racing in Newcastle were drinking in the Shady Begonia bar, named after a dog owned by the man who built Dinnings Electrical.

It stayed that way until William Hill took over the venue around 20 years ago.

Most people in the North East have no idea that story exists. We didn't either, until recently.

This is where Dinnings comes from. A North East family with genuine roots in this city. On the track, behind the bar, and on the trade counter for 75 years.
