The Corvette turned out superbly. Nice lie action as requested and no buzzing.

A while ago Campbell brought me his Warwick Corvette 5 string bass which was absolutely horrible to play. The action was preposterously high but still tons of buzz and dead notes and no amount of truss rod adjustment made it any better. The wenge fingerboard was a tad wider than the neck and you could feel that when playing which added to the unsatisfactory playing experience. The frets were worn to the point of needing replaced which gave me the chance to check the fingerboard with the truss rod neutralised. It became apparent quite quickly that the fingerboard had expanded somewhat over time and as well as sticking out over the neck, there was a massive hump at the nut. That means that the fingerboard had to be leveled and radiused before the new frets could go in. As you can see from the video, the fingerboard was very, very far from level.
