📢We’re hiring at Birth Companions!

Every family deserves the best start in life. At Amma, we’re working to make that a reality by improving pregnancy, birth and parenting experiences for those most impacted by systemic inequities.

We’re looking for two new team members to join us in making that change happen.

❗Advocacy & Communications Officer
We’re looking for a skilled communicator to help bring Amma’s advocacy and evidence work to life. You’ll write blogs and articles, help produce our annual Impact Report, and keep across the policy landscape so we can respond quickly.

You’ll also create advocacy and storytelling content for social media, lead on internal and volunteer communications, and represent Amma at community events. Working with our Experts by Experience group, you’ll make sure lived experience shapes how we tell our story.

❗ Fundraising & Marketing Officer

We’re looking for a digitally confident Fundraising & Marketing Officer to help grow the income Amma relies on. You’ll develop our individual giving programme, run supporter email journeys, and deliver digital fundraising campaigns.

You’ll look after our donor CRM, email platform and the back end of our website, including the donation pages. You’ll also keep Amma’s visual brand consistent and manage our range of branded products.

Over the past two summers, Amma has welcomed interns through the University of Glasgow Find a Solution programme, giving them the opportunity to spend their summer gaining experience while contributing to our work. 💚

It’s been lovely to see the fresh ideas, creativity and energy they’ve brought to our work.

Gemma helped us build our Amma Shop website, while Julianne joined us as a Communications Intern, helping us share more of Amma’s work.

We were also delighted to be shortlisted for the 'Best Internship Provider' Award both times :)

There are lots of ways to get involved with Amma, and we’ll be sharing more opportunities soon.

✨We were delighted to be invited to speak at the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde BME (Black and Minority Ethnic) Network meeting.

It was lovely to be part of an evening filled with interesting conversations, inspiring speakers, and important discussions around health, organ donation, maternity care, and the South Asian community in Glasgow.

We really enjoyed sharing a little about the work we do at Amma Birth Companions, as well as listening and learning from others.

And of course, the evening ended with some fantastic food at Namak Mandi | Glasgow’s Premier Peshwari Cuisine 😍

We were delighted to be part of Holyrood Secondary School's YPI Charity Fayre! 🫶🏼

We met hundreds of enthusiastic S3 students choosing charities to research and support through their YPI projects.

As part of our stall, we also showcased a animation created by a group of students who previously chose Amma as their charity for YPI.🤗

With £3,000 in funding available for the winning charity, we're excited to see which causes the students choose and look forward to working with some of them over the next few months!

We were blessed with a sunny day for our yearly Amma Family trip — this time to Balloch Park! 😍

Over 20 mums travelled from across Glasgow to join us, and for many of them, it was their first time taking the train.

We know that transport costs can sometimes stop families from taking part in community activities, so, as always, we made sure transport wasn't a barrier

The little ones had the best time running through the park, while the mums got a chance to relax and enjoy some time together. There was even a wee karaoke session! Along with plenty of games, thanks to our wonderful peer supporters and staff for organising it all 🫶🏼

Add in lunch, snacks, and glorious sunshine, and it was a day to remember. 🥪🍎☀️
