My favourite wildflower....The Foxglove!

Vibrant in colour and form, they have long been associated with fairies and are often known as the Fairy Flower.

In Scottish Gaelic, they are called 'Lus nam ban-sìth' which means 'Plant of the fairy women'.

Beautiful bluebells out in bloom for May Day/Beltane!

This ancient festival is more known today as May Day, but previously as Beltane, Beltaine or Bealtaine depending where you are in the British Isles and Ireland. On the first day of May, it was common to have fires burn to celebrate the Sun god Bal/Bel, to mark the transition of Spring into Summer. Feasting and dancing around the bonfire welcomed in the new season.
