If your guitar doesn't feel right or is difficult to play it could be needing a setup. I’m Iain, I handle the repairs here at Iain’s Guitar Repairs based within CC music in the west end of Glasgow. I have a lot of experience working on many different instruments of all makes and value as well as teching guitars for many well known touring bands. I took 2 years out and worked as the main technician
at Freshman guitars for 2 years. During this time I visited several guitar factories where I was involved in quality control and design aspects of the guitar production. I then returned to Glasgow where i worked as an employee in the old Soundcontrol and after that sadly closed I moved back to the west end workshop where i worked until January this year. I have now opened my own workshop inside Kenny's Music Glasgow. I treat every guitar as if it were my own and every job is carried out to the highest standard using the finest precision tools. High quality workmanship and customer satisfaction is my main focus and I always offer guaranteed work with the best after care service. I understand that a noisy music shop isn't always the best place to properly get a feel for the work that's been carried out, so I tell every customer to wait till they get home and try it through their own equipment in their own comfortable surroundings. Once you get it home and have given it a good going over, if you have any questions or want any tweaks; Call me, or drop back into the shop and I’ll adjust to suit your needs. I’ve found over the years that this is the best way to maximise customer satisfaction, so the customer gets the job they came in for. Every player is different. Some players don’t mind a super low action with a little buzz here or there on their guitar, because they are fast players with a lighter touch. Some players knock hell out there guitars and are more suited to a setup more tailored to their style, with a heavier string gauge or slightly higher action, this will be dealt with during the book in procedure.
