This November marks the 25th anniversary of opening our first showroom in Glasgow. Time has passed remarkably quickly. Reflecting on the past, we recall numerous projects we have undertaken. A double strip herringbone (or double herringbone) pattern is a variation of the classic, it is when two strips are laid side-by-side instead of just one.

On occasion, completing recently installed wide oak planks by hand is necessary. The area presented an awkward configuration, making the use of our buffing machines impractical. Nevertheless, the final finish quality remains consistent, though the process simply requires additional time.

The Process:
We supplied and installed an oak herringbone floor featuring a two-strip border. The flooring was secured with a flexible adhesive to a new, level, and dry plywood subfloor.

Specifications: The oak herringbone planks measures 120mm in width and 600mm in length. They are of Grade C quality, characterized by filled knots, and feature a prefinished 'raw' matt lacquer. with a micro-bevelled edge.

We recently revisited a project completed nine years ago, and we are pleased to report that the floors remain in excellent condition.

We are now conducting maintenance to ensure their longevity for many more years.

The oak herringbone flooring was specially distressed to achieve our signature "reclaimed look." This process involves meticulously distressing the edges and marking the surface of the boards to replicate the appearance of century-old flooring. Additionally, the boards were face-pinned during installation, making the pins visible, which reflects traditional fitting methods.

Our "reclaimed look" can be applied to any of our timber boards.

Just finished fitting this stunning tartan carpet from Stevens & Graham! It perfectly complements the wide oak plank flooring we installed previously. So happy with this cozy and stylish upgrade .

With our unfinished oak floors, you can choose the colour & finish after it is fitted. It is a big decision so there is no rush, we always suggest looking at samples at night with artificial light too.

Looking forward to the decision and finishing off this stunning wide oak plank.
