A little thought from the wholesale side of retail…
If your brand is fortunate enough to be supported by national retailers and independent shops, I think there has to be a responsibility to support those retailers in return.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with a brand selling directly to the public, it’s part of modern retail. But selling the exact same products direct at 25% below the price your stockists are expected to sell them at doesn’t sit particularly comfortably with me.
Retailers invest in the stock, give up valuable shelf space, display the products, recommend them to customers and ultimately help build the brand.
Surely the relationship has to work both ways?
Support the retailers who support your brand.
