Ralph Lauren (born Ralph Lifsh*tz) October 14, 1939 in New York is an American fashion designer and business executive, best known for his Polo Ralph Lauren clothing brand, and a global multi-billion-dollar enterprise. He has become well known for his collection of rare automobiles, some of which have been displayed in museum exhibits. Diesel S.p.A. is an Italian Design company. It is best known for high end PRET-A-PORTER clothing aimed at the Young Adult market. The company is owned by its founder Renzo Rosso, and is based in the former Laverda building area in Breganze, northern Italy.


Founded in 1978, Renzo said that they learned marketing from the US, creativity from Italy, and systems from Germany.

Dame Vivienne Westwood, DBE, RDI (born Vivienne Isabel Swire on 8 April 1941) in Tintwistle, Derbyshire is an English fashion designer and businesswoman, largely responsible for bringing modern punk and new wave fashions into the mainstream.

Westwood came to public notice when she made clothes for Malcolm McLaren's boutique in the KingsRoad which became famous as "S*X". It was their ability to synthesise clothing and music that shaped the 1970s UK punk scene , dominated by McLaren's band, the S*x Pistols. She was deeply inspired by the shock-value of punk - "seeing if one could put a spoke in the system".

Westwood went on to open four shops in London, eventually expanding throughout the United Kingdom and the world, selling an increasingly varied range of merchandise, some of it linked to her many political causes such as the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, Climate change and the civil rights group - Civil liberties.

HUGO BOSS is a German luxury fashion and Style House based in Metzingen, Germany. It is named after its founder, Hugo Boss (1885–1948).

Hugo Boss started his clothing company in 1924 in Metzingen, a small town south of Stuttgart, Germany where it is still based. Due to the economic climate in Germany at the time, Boss was forced into bankruptcy. In 1931, he reached an agreement with his creditors, leaving him with six sewing machines to start again.

Paul Smith, RDI (born in Beeston, Nottingham, United Kingdom on 5 July 1946) is an English fashion designer, whose business and reputation is founded upon his Menswear.

He is both commercially successful and highly respected within the Fashion industry. Smith fell into fashion design when as an out-of-work teenager his father forced him to become a runner in a local clothing warehouse in his native Nottingham.

His real passion was sport and his ambition was to become a professional Road racing cyclist, until aged 17 years when he was in a terrible accident. Six months in hospital followed and during this time he made some new friends.

After leaving hospital he arranged to meet them again at a local pub that was popular with the students from the local art college. They talked of Piet Mondrian, Andy Warhol, Kokoshka, David Evans Bailey and listened to the The Rolling Stones, Miles Davis, It was then Paul Smith knew he wanted to be a part of this colourful world of ideas and excitement.

Within two years, he was managing his first boutique in Nottingham and with the encouragement of his girlfriend Pauline Denyer (now wife) and a small amount of savings, opened a tiny store in 1970. He started to take evening classes for tailoring and with the help of Pauline (an Royal College of Art fashion graduate), he was able to create what he wanted. In 1976, just six years after opening his first shop, he showed his first collection on the Paris runways under the Paul Smith label.

Gianni Versace S.p.A. , usually referred to as Versace is an Italian fashion company and trade name founded by Gianni Versace in 1978.

The first Versace boutique was opened in Milan's Via Della Spiga in 1978 (though the Versace Family are from Reggio di Calabria), and its popularity was immediate. Today, Versace is one of the world's leading international fashion houses. Versace designs, markets, and distributes luxury clothing , accessories, makeup, and home furnishings under the various brands of the Versace Group. In 1994, the brand gained additional notoriety after the widespread coverage of the Black Versace dress of Elizabeth Hurley.

Versace was killed by Andrew Cunanan on July 15, 1997. His sister Donatella Versace, formerly vice-president, then stepped in as creative director of Versace and his older brother Santo Versace became CEO. Donatella's daughter Allegra Versace also has owned 50 percent of the company since 2004 as bequeathed by Gianni in his last will. Allegra also has the last say about the sale and other important details in the Versace clothing line.

After the corporate crisis of 2001-2002, in 2003 Fabio Massimo Cacciatori started the restoration. Since 2004 Giancarlo Dirisio, from IT Holding has been CEO of the group. In July 2009 Giangiacomo Feltrinelli, from Jil Sander Group, was appointed the new CEO.
Versace's style department employs a large group of designers and stylists who work in teams. Each team is specifically dedicated to one fashion line or label. These teams operate under the close supervision and guidance of Donatella Versace.
