Welcome to our third new contributor this month - Niwa Candles. This Glasgow-based mother and son partnership produce wonderful and unique candles. In a few weeks they will be adding a botanical range to their shelf (once we're no longer in danger of the shop getting too hot). In the meantime, there are container candles with a variety of scents, plus hanging botanical wax scent blocks for use in wardrobes etc.

Simon, Merkstreet, is running the shop today, so we asked him to take a selfie with one of his favourite items. The result and his wording is so good, that we have mutually decided to make this the first part of an occasional series, entitled Simon's Picks. Please read what he has to say below:

"I love this print from Turadh Design Co Ever since I moved to Glasgow 17 years ago, I've enjoyed the designs of an Edwardian tenement close. Going into one of those red brick buildings and being met by quite intricate details and splashes of colour, always spoke to me of the craftsmanship, attention to detail, and delight in creativity, that I love about this city. I particularly love the fact that you can find this in a shared spaces of people's homes. Turadh does a great job of capturing the feeling of popping over to a friend's place. Someone who lives in one of those tenements, walking up the old stairs, being invited into the flat with high ceilings, bay windows, and a comforting cup of tea (or a wee cheeky dram)."
