A fine example of LitRPG this book is both a fascinating and bizarre read into a world that offers a strange dystopian universe. When anything with a roof is suddenly flattened on Earth, so only those who were outside survive, an ex-military man in his underwear, Carl, and his ex-girlfriend's cat, Princess Donut, are thrust into a world where they must fight to survive. Similar to a computer game their lives become entertainment too an intergalactic audience, and performance becomes an integral part of life.
This book is ridiculous, yet it is also fearlessly entertaining, the series now happily expanding to more than eight books. Written with insatiable narrative it is a story worth reading, with comedy intermingled with true moral conundrums. An easy read, yet filled with serious world ending dynamics. - Ailsa
