Did someone say sisal?

Staircase and landing fitted using the Durafit double stick system — the only way to do it properly on natural fibre.

Sisal isn't forgiving. It doesn't stretch, it doesn't hide mistakes, and most fitters won't go near it. We're starting to think we might have a type.

Hall, kitchen and understairs cupboard transformed in Invictus Royal Oak Tradition glue down LVT.

Before the floor goes down, the floor has to be right. Ultrafloor screed throughout to level and prepare the subfloor, then Ultrafloor adhesive for the glue down fit. The prep is the job — the LVT is the reward.

Unless your in flooring the screed pictures aren't exciting but a good screed is the basis of all good fits.

Top landing and staircase runner in Cormar Zenith Caribou, finished with a black whipped edge — and two wet areas in roll vinyl to complete the job.
The black whipping wasn't just practical. It frames the runner cleanly and gives the whole staircase a finished, deliberate look that a self-coloured edge wouldn't have delivered here.

Sisal staircase runner, Isle of Bute.
A lot of fitters won't touch sisal — it's unforgiving, it doesn't hide mistakes, and you don't get a second chance. We templated the full staircase on a separate trip, durafit double stuck throughout, and came back to fit it properly.
The island adds its own complications. We came anyway.
This is the kind of job that doesn't suit everyone.

One floor, multiple spaces, and a lot of attention to detail 👌

This Quick-Step Impressive (name and appearance) laminate installation started in the home's cinema room, where the floor was laid diagonally to create a real feature space and add a completely different feel to the room.

From there, the flooring continues through the hallways in a traditional straight lay, creating a seamless flow throughout the property before finishing on two staircases with matching Incizo stair noses.

Projects like this are all about planning. Getting the transitions right between different laying patterns while maintaining a consistent finish throughout the home takes careful preparation, but the end result speaks for itself.

The diagonal layout in the cinema room creates a real focal point, while the straight lay through the rest of the property keeps everything clean, practical and timeless.
