Did you know I'm trying to write a novel ✍️?

I mention it because it makes me accountable!

It might be a terrible novel but I need to get it out of my system. And I'm ok with that 👍.

But I have to take myself away to focus on writing because I get too distracted at home 😵‍💫.

I'm very lucky to have a campervan to go away in for a few days. Wish the weather was better today though 🌧️🌧️🌧️!

Abbie is kindly covering my shift today so the shop is open as normal while I'm away.

Good news - the glass trivets are back in!

Perfect for housewarming, wedding and birthday gifts or a treat for your own kitchen or dining table 🎁.

Ideal for protecting worktops and tabletops from hot pans or dishes, as well as for chopping, preparing and serving food.

Made from non-porous toughened glass with non-slip rubber feet to offer a sturdy surface.

They are odour and stain resistant and can withstand heat of up to 280 degrees centigrade.

And the designs are SO pretty!

We're open today (Sunday) from 11-4, closed Monday as usual and then back open Tues-Fri 10-6 and Sat 10-5.

Exciting things were happening at Sunshine No 1 yesterday 😃!

The state of the paintwork above the signage has annoyed me for years and I've finally got around to doing something about it!

Andrew of has started work on making it all beautiful!

He was at the shop super early, making the most of the dry weather, and worked really hard to sand it all down and prep it for the new paint.

It feels great to get the outside all spruced up and I'd looks better already 🥳!

Watch this space for the end result 👀....

We're open this weekend as normal - Sat 10-5 and Sun 11-4.

I got back to my bench yesterday and was feeling inspired by the sea again!

The 2 sterling silver pendants are designs I keep going back to - Jellyfish & Sea Urchin.

But, as every one is made individually they are always slightly different and so each one is unique!

The jellyfish usually has 4 or 5 tentacles but it felt like 3 was the perfect number for this wee guy!

It will be available to buy online or in store later today unless someone nabs it here first!

A quick flashback to what was happening 11 years ago!

I was equally terrified and excited!

James of James Graham painting the sign was making it all a reality.

But there was still a long way to go to turn it into a shop and, 11 years later, I'm still learning and the shop keeps evolving.

Not long until it's the 11th anniversary of opening!

Have you been to see anything at the Commonwealth Games?

We were lucky to get £10 tickets for the netball on Sunday and got to see 2 matches (Malawi v Northern Ireland and South Africa v Tonga).

A big shout out to all the volunteers who were so enthusiastic and helpful!

Well done to the team for the organisation too.

I'm back in the shop today but wondering if I can manage to find some more reasonably priced tickets to go to something else 🤔!

It's the season to send or give a card - we're especially busy with cards for weddings, anniversaries, new babies and new homes at this time of year!

Of course, we sell a lot of birthday cards at all times of year (although the busiest time for those is the late September/early October!).

The year is skewed when you're a shopkeeper!

You have to think ahead 💭...

I'm not always great at planning in advance but it's better if I do - spreading the cost and being organised instead of ordering at the last minute and hoping I'll get everything in time is much less stressful!

August and September are usually when I'm thinking ahead to the festive season but this year I'm starting early 💪!

Of course, it'll all be stored away until nearer the time so you won't know what's going on behind the scenes!
