I went to school with Lee Sarah Woodcock (Sarah Strong) .. I didn’t write this song about her .. we are having a school reunion in September .. 45 YEARS since I left school .. anyway .. this is one of my better songs .. I can write a million songs .. I don’t have a fu***ng clue how to market them? do you? how does a 61 year old musician turn a fairly recognisable talent into a more sustainable career? listen to it .. share it .. and when 15 of you have played it I’ll be able to buy myself a penny chew (if such a thing still exists LOL

this is on my mind .. I love this yellow guitar .. I made it from a rusty box I bought off Matt Green .. it inspired the song YELLOW TIN BOX and the pseudonym Emerito Professor of Love .. I wrote a song for my wife Gina when I met her and only ever had the first verse .. I think the lyric was “a little door through space and time and I’m drowning in your sea .. if I thought you’d change your mind I’d cry more than crocodile tears .. and it’s true I’m crazy I’m crazy for you” guess we’ve reached the second verse and I’m sad she won’t get to hear it .. and I’ve been trying to write songs she likes for about twenty years .. we were talking about it before she died and she suddenly said “but you have written a song I like Ruby Jack is brilliant”

I just listened to it again with fresh ears (yeah I’ve sort of lost track of music a bit) and she not wrong it’s actually kinda okay and you could be the 9th person to listen to it and I’ll probably get a whole tenth of a penny if you do!

So .. here’s my invitation .. take three minutes of your life to review my hardest task master’s appraisal and see if you agree with her .. Gina clearly wanted me to work harder at song writing .. my plan was always to be stupidly famous and look after her .. this town .. and you .. you want free cake??
