We grow flowers, but we’re always thinking about these guys:

🐝🪲🪳🪰🌲🐜🐛🐞🌱🐌🐍🦋🌳🐦‍⬛🦉🦇🍄‍🟫🐟🦡🦔🐀

We never use synthetic fertilizers, we don’t we use herbicides or pesticides, we use as little single-use plastic as possible. We do things the slow way, which is also often the hard-on-the-body way. Our learning curve has been and continues to be steep; we don’t come from a long lineage of farmers. We both lived in the city before this. Still, we’re figuring it out and it’s all worth it when the blooms begin to erupt with colour and fragrance that draw in loads of pollinators.

Our grandparents and great grandparents may have moved away from an agrarian lifestyle (for very understandable reasons!) yet here we are, with sore backs and dirty fingernails, moving closer to the soil, the trees, and, of course, the bees.

🌱🌱Happy Beltane Everyone!🌱🌱

🌱 Charlie has been so busy in the garden over the past few weeks he can barely string a sentence together! But here’s a few videos/pics to show how we’re doing. Not pictured: the endless weeding and pests 😬

1. Seedlings (zinnias, sunflowers, cosmos, phlox…)
2. Mooore seedlings (…snapdragons, campanula, gomphrena, daucus, dahlias…)
3. Sowing more tender annual seeds in our kitchen
4. 🐈‍⬛Bramble cat helping out!
5. Nigella happily blooming
6. 🌹Roses budding
7. 🐞Ladybirds love feverfew!

🌞Recent happenings at TVF!

1. Sowing sweet peas under hazel trellises

2. Mixing our soil blocking mix per recipe

3. Our little grow-light nursery (the bakery, we call it)

4. A baby slow worm! So lovely to see these guys in the garden

5. Mulching around seedlings with grass clippings (a great thing to do in case we have another drought like last year)

Hello World! We’re back ☺️ after a wonderful social media hiatus. It’s the cusp of spring, so we’ve been busy sowing, potting, weeding, and scrubbing the darn polytunnel in preparation for bringing lovely, local blooms to you and yours.

✨Excitingly, Tor View Flowers will have a stall at both the on Tuesdays and the on Fridays beginning in April!

✨We’ll be selling flower and veg starts early on, then transitioning into more and more bunches, bouquets, and dried flowers as the season progresses. Do come see us, have a chat, and smell the flowers! 💐

🎄The Wreath Factory is working from sunup to sundown to decorate your doors with festive cheer! The wee elves 🧝🧝‍♀️🧝‍♂️ are staying in good spirits, caroling through their shifts, though they have begun to see spiraling wreaths in their sugarplum dreams. If you’d like to order a compostable, locally gathered, sustainable wreath or half-wreath before the wee elves return to the North Pole, please do send us a DM or email 😊

✨SOMERSET WREATH SALE✨

🌱100% compostable, handmade, and locally gathered/grown in Glastonbury. Traditional and dried flower options available. Woven willow or hazel frame, no plastic.

❄️Is it just us or has it gotten bloody chilly? 🥶 Back in mountainous America (where one of us is from), people look forward to the winter because it means the ski/snowboard season has begun. While we don’t really have mountains or snow in Somerset (with all due respect to the Mendips and Quantocks), there are still sources of joy amid the short days and looong, cooold nights. Warm drinks, hot fires, board games, film nights with family…and wreaths of course!

👩🏻‍🌾🧑🏻‍🌾 Send us a message or email to pre-order for early December pick up or local delivery in Glastonbury. Prices start at £25 for a half-wreath and £50 for a full wreath. Ribbon optional. Many thanks and stay warm!

Finally got around to digging up our dahlia tubers and cutting hazel for wreath-making yesterday. Amazingly, it was the 13th of November and 15 degrees and sunny! Today not so much 🌧️ Lovely to think of all the flowers these tubers will produce next year…at least half should be viable. Dividing dahlia tubers is a great way to get more flowers for free 😊 which is really what we all want, right?

✨🌸Recent autumnal happenings 😊✨

🌱Our dahlias are at peak bloom right now! We’re really enjoying the show and such a joy to share them with family, friends, and of course the bees and spiders and ladybirds.

🌱Gathering seeds for next year’s flower crop!

🌱Enjoying the last of our zinnias as well ☺️

🌱And the last hurrah of tomatoes in the poly tunnel!
