💐Lately at TVF…it’s all about the dahlias 🧡

We’re doing markets again! It’s been really nice seeing your lovely faces again and chatting dahlias, daucus, drizzles, ducks, and more at Shepton Mallet Friday Market . Today, we’re doing the monthly Wells Sunday Market for the first time, which is quite exciting (if you haven’t been, it’s similar to the Wells Wednesday/Saturday market but with different traders).

We’ll be selling fresh flowers for another month or so (depending when the first frost or massive windstorm comes), so if you’re wanting to catch us before we transition to selling exclusively dried flowers and holiday wreaths…don’t wait too long!

✨We’ll be at from 8:30-13:00 tomorrow and the this Sunday (our first time slinging flowers in Wells!!) selling our homegrown, chemical-free, zero air miles, lovingly raised, bee-friendly flowers! Come say hi and have a gander at the blooms! If you find an insect on a petal, consider it a good sign 😊✨

Somehow, we’ve managed to keep most of our flowers alive through the first month of having a baby 😅 (a month already!! 😭😭). We’ve brought Baby down the hill to the field a few times now…the first time he was a sleepy angel, the second and third times one of us had to be holding him the entire time.

Late summer is here. Our newborn is teaching us all manner of lessons and our lives are completely transformed by parenthood. Yet the flowers keep blooming and the bees and moths and butterflies have continued their daily toil through our absence. Our snips and secateurs have stayed sharp and seem readier than ever to cleanly cut juicy stems. Although we now orbit a little milk monster like helicopter moons, and we’re eternally sleep-deprived, and our postnatal brains are 1% smaller (look it up; it’s true), it seems we still are the farmer-florists we were before - eyes open, dirty-nailed, ready to oooo and ahhh over the endless novelty of fresh life.

These lovely blooms are headed to refill FARA - apparently everyone is in the mood for dahlias!



We’ve begun collecting seed and will be selling packets at market soon for anyone keen on autumn sowing.

Our autumn-sown hardy annual flowers from this year were some of our absolute best (great yield, long stems). They included feverfew, yarrow, campanula, strawflower, and statice. Our sweet peas were winter-sown under cover. Hardy plants are adapted to thrive because of (not in spite of) cold winters. Sowing in autumn is a complete game changer and something our farming ancestors would’ve been well-acquainted with.

Surely the Hawthorne berries weren’t here so early last year?

The blackberries are shriveled and seedy, but they do taste quite nice.

Who says you can’t grow hot chiles outside in the England? These are some very hot padrón chiles that we should’ve picked green!

And our outdoor (in partial shade and quite neglected no less!) tomato crop has been absolutely bonkers this summer.

Tor View Flowers started with a wedding - our own! Today is our one-year anniversary. We’re feeling incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to not only grow our own wedding flowers, but to start a business and share flowers with our community 💚

Sarita arranged her own bridal bouquet (and it matched her floral gown incredibly well!).

We enjoyed the whole process of sowing, growing, picking, and arranging so much…that we decided we had to go all in and try to make this into our livelihood.

We built these terraces ourselves during the winter. They provided just about enough growing space for our wedding flowers.

This year, we knew we wanted to massively increase the quantity of flowers we grow. So, we moved our growing to a much more spacious community garden within walking distance of our home. It’s been an incredible amount of work clearing and setting up our current flower beds over the past year, but absolutely worth it.

It’s been an absolute pleasure selling at market this spring and summer. Thank you so SO much to everyone (especially our regulars! 💖) who has supported us over the past year in Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet, and Sherborne. Small-scale agriculture depends 100% on community support to thrive. You guys are the best.

Oh, and we might as well sneak in a little announcement 🤭 Tor View Flowers will be bringing on a new member very soon! The person in question won’t be able to help with farm work for at least five or six years…but we’re sure they’ll provide us and our customers with loads of moral support and cuteness 💖💖
