Most people never get to see what’s underneath the heatsink on a PS5 Slim, so here’s a little behind-the-scenes from the workshop!

This one came in to our workshop for an HDMI port replacement. While stripping it down, you can see the square pattern on top of the processor.

We’ve had a few people ask if it’s damaged, but it’s actually completely normal. Those concentric square lines are part of the factory design of the heat spreader and help the liquid metal spread evenly across the processor to keep it cool.

It’s a great reminder that not everything inside a console that looks unusual is actually a fault. Sometimes it’s just clever engineering!
