Due to a change in my regular working life I will sadly have to close down our online token sales for the foreseeable future. The website will remain up to host the blog and game files.

Thankyou to all our customers for your support in the time we've been open, and I hope the tokens that are out there will continue to serve you well!

It's been a little while, but we have a new blog post.

After many years of waiting, I finally got the chance to run Dragons of Despair, the first Dragonlance module, at Kobold's Cave in Stroud this weekend. It was a great time, and I look forward to next month's session.

I created a quick reference sheet for the module which may be of use to others that want to run this module, and it can be downloaded from the blog post.

After many years of hoping to get a large enough group interested in playing it, I finally managed to run the first Dragonlance module – Dragons of Despair – using the 1st edition AD&D rules on Saturday. It was a … Running Dragonlance DL1: Dragons of Despair Read More »

Finally managed to get Dark Horizon from APE Games on the table yesterday with good friend Geoff of Oakbound Studio.

We tried the Fast Play scenario from Mars magazine as an introduction to the system, and played it twice so we could try out both sides.

I hadn't realised until getting it set up that there were in fact two different Fast Play scenarios. The one on the old website is not quite the same as the one in the magazine, though they are very similar.

We elected to play the one in the magazine for now, perhaps trying the one from the website another time.

In this scenario two operatives from PUNT (People for a UNified Tomorrow) have already snuck through a secret Talobar Technologies complex and are attempting to destroy The Armageddon Device and escape through the door. Meanwhile three Corporate Security Guards are attempting to stop them.

The magazine scenario uses one character from the original game - he is called U.T. - and one from the supplement - she is called Lin So. Unfortunately I had prepared the figure for Rif Skapper instead of U.T., since he was the character in the web scenario. As it happens the U.T. from the magazine scenario may have been a mistake since he actually has Rif Skapper's gear, so we just used Rif Skapper.

It was an interesting game, and shows promise for the full experience, though the Fast Play version of the rules was obviously fairly limited. Characters can take a lot of hits before going down, which feels a bit odd. But on the other hand you would find it very difficult to achieve anything if figures went down as quickly as they perhaps ought to.

Visited Colours Wargames Show on Saturday and picked up this gem. The original Harlequin Miniatures Dr Who wargame. Complete with blisters and all the cardboard terrain still untouched.

This is yet another game I wanted as a kid in the nineties but never had the pocket money to get hold of. Looking forward to getting some paint on it and getting it on the table.

Carrying it round the show sparked a few conversations. I actually met the author Daniel Faulconbridge and another chap who worked on it with him on the Wargames Illustrated stand and had a chat with them about it.

And not far away was The Assault Group. I didn't catch the guy's name, but he once worked for Harlequin and had moulded the range of UNIT and Dalek figures that come with the set.
