South Wales MTB guiding experiences

South Wales MTB guiding experiences We have a wide range of guided mountain bike tours, designed to cater for all abilities and tastes. As indicated, the safety of our clients is our key priority.

The emphasis is placed firmly on enjoyment and safety rather than on´competition´and risk. That is to say that we fully understand that the needs and concerns of a novice or indeed of an experienced off-road rider. If a challenging and technical ride is required, that can be provided. If a gentle introduction to off-road riding is required , that can be also. Both extremes are just as welcome and

are catered for accordingly and effectively. Before selecting a guided tour, we would firstly ensure that the needs and ability of the individual or group is established. We do that by listening to you and by using our local knowledge to provide a memorable and enjoyable tour. This is why we are professionally qualified in mountain bike leadership . Packed lunches are available on request. For more experienced riders – We have a selection of routes that are mainly on natural rocky trails and forest tracks. Distances vary from 30km to 60km. Most routes pass through at least one village where refreshments are available. For more demanding riders - We have a number of routes that are predominantly off-road and take in high mountain terrain, often in quite remote country. Tracks are usually rocky and the routes involve a considerable amount of ascent and descent. Distances vary from approx. 40km to 70km. Why choose a guided tour? The benefits of a guided tour are many, and include :-

* Specialist local knowledge of the best routes and trails. By choosing a guided trip, you can make the absolute best use of your time and will visit places that otherwise would remain undiscovered!

* The tour leader will be a professionally qualified Mountain Bike Guide and will have considerable local knowledge. Escape routes and contingency plans are built into each route. Safety Systems exist to ensure that all risks are controlled and minimised. Health & Safety is taken seriously and procedures are fully explained prior to the start of the trip. The leader is also experienced in bike mechanics and will always carry a selection of tools to cater for the most likely mechanical problems. Last but by no means least, the Guide will be professionally trained and qualified in Wilderness First Aid.

* Simply put, choosing a Guided Tour allows you to simply enjoy the biking without having to worry about where you´re going or what to do if anything goes wrong!

Don’t forget.
Join us for our first Saturday walk tomorrow! I plan to host these walks on as many Saturdays / Sundays as possible throughout the winter, whenever feasible.

This week’s walk begins at 8:00 AM sharp from Bryn Bettws Lodge SA129SP. It’s a 4-mile circular route, relatively easy but requiring a basic level of fitness. Please bring a waterproof jacket.
The goals of these walks are:

1 To highlight the beauty of the Afan Valley and introduce people to new routes and destinations.

2 To combat the isolation of winter and support mental health by providing an opportunity to connect with others, stay active, and build hill-walking fitness.

As the season progresses, the walks will increase in distance, offering even more stunning views the further we go.

Please don’t be scared to join us. I promise it will be worth it.
