Auf Wiedersehen to the 2024 season, with a massive thank you to all our wonderful guests who have made this our best year since we opened in June 2015 - thank you again. It's been damned hard work at times, rewarding and (mostly!) enjoyable. Dunrobin Castle's closed, the last guests (ultra marathon competitors) gone home and it's time for us to head south for a few weeks catching up with friends and rediscovering Pina Coladas. We reopen on November 25th for a while then remained closed over Christmas & New Year.

Delighted to announce that we have won no less than 6 awards from online travel agents Travelmyth - in the top 1% of dog friendly properties in the world plus 3 more dog friendly awards, inclusion in the free wi-fi category and inclusion in the best small properties category. These awards aren't going to make us rich, but as a recognition for all the hard work that Michelle puts in, I'm over the moon!
The badges are now displayed on our website www.invictahouse.co.uk - take a look!

We opened our doors for the first time in June 2015 and are open year-round except during our own holidays, which we usually take between October and April. Ill health has meant that the B&B will be closed during the winter of 2023-24 to allow full recuperation and rehabilitation to be achieved; we....

One of the greatest bonuses of running a B&B is the huge variety of people we get to meet, from all walks of life and - in this instance - from many varied and diverse countries. This is taken from 'Kombi' magazine, a Swedish publication which takes contributions from different sources.
In September 2022 we had a Swedish couple stay with us for a few days, Anders & Annika, together with their dog, a long-haired Dachshund called Peps. They were travelling the North of Scotland and some of the Scottish islands by public transport as a research project for a report in the Swedish media on just how easy (or not) travelling in the more remote parts of Scotland without a car and bringing their dog with them. In short, the answer is that it isn't easy at all, but nevertheless they did it and completed the journey without deviating from their plan once except as detailed below.
Unfortunately, Peps developed an issue with his paws which required the services of a vet and I was happy to step in and ferry them in my car to our local vets (in Rogart) where Peps got the treatment he needed so they were able to continue their journey. After 87 days on the road, they got home safely to their home in Stockholm where they wrote the story up, and had it published in several Swedish national newspapers and magazines.
A while back, we received a lovely letter of thanks and a copy of Kombi magazine, a photograph from which is shown here. I'd copy the whole article, but it's in Swedish and I don't understand a word; it could be slating us for all I know, but they seemed very grateful and seemed to have have had a good time! The cooked breakfast also seems to have gone down well!!

We get lots of car clubs, cycle clubs and motorbike clubs staying in Golspie, and last night we had this little beauty's owner staying with us; it took me back to my childhood - my Dad's first car was a Morris Minor, and my earliest memories date back to that car!
