Ever heard of Vavilovian mimicry?
Vavilovian mimicry is an evolutionary process in which w**ds evolve to resemble domesticated crops. This remarkable adaptation allowed the w**d Echinochloa crus-galli to survive among rice crops. The plant somehow “learned” that each year farmers would remove it, allowing the rice to thrive. Through Vavilovian mimicry, the w**d gradually came to resemble rice in appearance and growth, tricking farmers and surviving removal. Essentially, it is survival by disguise.
