Same but different 🤔

Two RockShox Deluxe shocks in for routine maintenance this week - slightly different versions but remarkably similar - the newer air can is definitely an improvement though!

Still a fairly versatile and sturdy shock - not a bad choice for basic e-bikes but they aren’t the strongest in that respect!

Looking forward to playing with some of the new Air shocks when we get the chance - that air can looks 👌🏻

We love our DVO Suspension here - we’ve been supporting the brand for years up here in the Scottish Highlands - the wealth of experience these guys have is unreal 😎

They currently have no UK distribution which is a sad situation

Don’t stress though! We still have plenty of parts for service work and are able to get more spares directly from DVO themselves!

We’ll always do what we can to keep everyone running the parts they love 👊🏻

Nothing we love more here than an EXT Coil shock 🙌🏻

The Storia V3 was a damn fine model and is still head and shoulders above a lot of modern shocks - the workmanship is second to none - look after these and they will last for years and can be easily modified to move from bike to bike with you 😎

Performance is sublime and all the adjustments you could need are there for you too

What a piece of kit 🙌🏻

Double Trouble Scott Ransom Juniors in getting some RideWrap fitted recently 😎

We can Fit and Supply most types of frame protection here and have experienced the pro’s and con’s of both so can keep you right choosing what best fits your needs!

These two Youth Bikes will be keeping those awesome paint jobs looking fresh for a long time to come now 👌🏻

Very interesting to see these two - slightly older - shocks side by side 🤓

Very similar in layout and how they work - Twin Tube dampers with sprung loaded High Speed adjusters and needle type low speed adjusters on both - slightly different lockout styles - very similar Air Spring layouts too

The Cane Creek Double Barrel Air is fair bit older and was generally more reliable - very early Coil models even had the Ohlins logo present and they helped develop the shock

The Fox Float X2 is a lot newer but remarkably similar……

Same but different I guess ????

Air or Coil 🤔 What’s your preference?

Both have their Pro’s and Con’s - Air Springs have an easily adjustable Spring Rate but suffer from initial stiction to overcome - Coil Springs are more involved to change the Spring Rate but have no initial stiction to over come - Air Springs also ramp up significantly as they compress whilst Coil Springs do not - Air Springs can also be lighter (but not always)

It does come down to personal preference and the wants and needs of the rider and the type of bike in question

We have experience of most makes and models of both and can help you choose what works best for you 🫵🏻

In this scenario we know which if these two shocks is reliable - and which is rather famously not 😂
