5 reasons why you should invest in the M2 laser+print machine…

I’ve been testing out this machine for a good few months now and it impresses me more and more each time I use it. If you have a small business and want to expand your product line, add the XTool M2 to your office and see what you can make!

•PRINT+CUT•
I can finally expand the type of toppers I am offering in my business. The fact there’s endless opportunities is such a bonus. With the print feature, I am able to offer printed wooden cake toppers. These are great for cake themes that want a little bit of colour, but nothing vibrant - they work well with an under the sea or western cake themes for example.

•WOODEN CAKE TOPPERS•
These are something I have been wanting to make for ages. Using basswood sheets, I am able to import themed images into the xTool design software. It takes a little practice to perfect the settings, but I definitely like increasing the laser intensity power so the inside of the image is engraved with as much detail as possible. I have so many theme sets I want to make now and they are so special if a little more luxury is needed for a cake.

•CAKE NAME/AGE CHARMS•
Sometimes all a cake needs is a name and/or age, or a requires these for durability or a keepsake; alongside a normal printed theme set. These can be offered in wood or certain colours of acrylic. They could also be cut on the M2 for table placement names, added to festive gift boxes or used as decorative pieces for a child’s bedroom.

•XTOOL STUDIO IS A BREEZE•
If you’re used to using another well known cutting machine software, getting used to the Xtool design software is a breeze and very user friendly for even those new users who are just beginning their cutting project journey. I was really nervous about navigating my way around it, but a lot of the features are the same and it also includes some cool features such as the background remover (no monthly subscription account needed!) and I love how you can change the intensity of the laser engraving depending on how much detail you’d like. In a rush? Increase the speed too!

Everytime I see Cynthia Taiwo | Harlow baker’s cakes anyway I am absolutely in awe at how stunning they are… so it’s a dream to make cake toppers regularly for a client like this. If you follow her, (her tiktok is also fab!!), you’ll know how much attention, time and precision she puts into all her cakes. She always shouts me out on her socials and I’ve gained so many new customers through Cynthia so I am truly grateful; not only for the business side of things, but she’s actually a true lovely gal 💕

Above are some kids cake toppers I made for her own family cakes and just look at them 🥹😭🫶🏼 perfection!

TESTING WOODEN CAKE TOPPERS 👇🏻

ad gifted. The main reason I am so excited and to receive and try out the new xToolOfficial M2 laser machine, was to extend my business and offer my crafts something more. I have been working with cardstock for 6 years making cake toppers, so this machine provides me the extension to offer wooden and acrylic toppers

Alongside the machine, I received the M2 Inkjet module which allows you to print directly onto materials. This means not only can I laser cut wood, but I can print onto it too!

The module was super easy to set up and install. It uses magnetics to attach - so is really easy to remove and interchange to the laser module and so forth!

I decided to make a simple text cake topper to begin with using a cursive font. I added a ‘stick’ using a long rectangle shape and then welded the project together to laser cut as one.

After lining up the wood, the M2 uses camera technology to show you a live preview of the machine body. This makes is super easy to place your artwork around the material and especially means you’ll never waste material because you can avoid areas that are not usable.

The finished wooden topper which turned out perfectly! I am so happy with my first one!

Finally, to accompany the baby theme topper, I exported an image of this bear and tried out both the inkjet and laser. I love the colourful but not too bright colours - it’s a soft muted print. I also laser cut a second bear and played around with the intensity settings
