Would you like to help set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title!
Online Go All In-Take 10 to Read takes place online on Thursday 8th October between 9am and 9pm.

"On Thursday 8 October, the National Literacy Trust and the British Council will aim to set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the most people reading online in 12 hours"

Sessions will be repeated at different times throughout the day to make participation as accessible as possible for a global audience.
Ages 5 to 8: A reading of Super Uma by Rashmi Sirdeshpande, followed by a draw-along activity with illustrator Nakul P.
Ages 8 to 12: Frank Cottrell-Boyce will read from The Blockbusters! and explore themes including cinema and culture.
Ages 12 to 16: Nathanael Lessore will discuss topics linked to What Happens Online, including digital identity, confidence, family and school life.
Ages 16+: Coco Omer and Zubs, alongside reading ambassadors, will discuss their connection with reading and what it means for their wellbeing.
Each pre-recorded session lasts no more than an hour and includes a dedicated ten-minute reading session, during which participants will read together. This forms part of the Guinness World Records attempt.

What is the event schedule?
9am, 1pm, 5pm - Ages 5 to 8 session with Rashmi Sirdeshpande and Nakul P

10am, 2pm, 6pm - Ages 8 to 12 session with Frank Cottrell-Boyce

11am, 3pm, 7pm - Ages 12 to 16 Nathanael Lessore

12noon, 4pm, 8pm - Ages 16+ Coco Omer and Zubs

All times are British Summer Time.

You only need to take part in one session to be part of the record attempt.

Join the webinar at your chosen session time. National Literacy Trust and British Council staff will be available in the chat to encourage participation and answer questions.

The Rabbit Hole is keen to offer more creative opportunities to home schooled children. With our friends at Our Big Picture, we aim to start offering regular author and illustrator events for home schoolers.

The wonderful Jack Mackay has very kindly offered to be the first author to try this new venture with The Rabbit Hole, while on his promotional tour with his new book.

Technology can be a wonderful tool and has made events, previously inaccessible, available via virtual events. However, we believe that nothing can replace the experience of seeing and meeting an author in the real world.

Jack Mackay’s brilliantly received eerie debut, Gloam, published with Rock the Boat last year, was Times Children’s Book of the Week and has since been nominated and has also won awards, notably at The Big Malarkey Festival Book Awards, this year.

Only recently, Jack attended York University! His new novel The Haunting of Old Splinter is another stand-alone spooky offering. Aimed at readers Y5 and above, as with Gloam, Jack has again struck that perfect balance of being just scary enough and this age group will love the book and Jack, as he is also clever at being scary enough while still being age appropriate.

Having seen him in action, he’s an absolute natural at events and his youth, energy and enthusiasm makes him very relatable and engaging for young people.

Any home-schooled child from 9+ can participate in this event. Free/pay what you want tickets are available on our website to make it totally accessible for all.

We do appreciate even the smallest donations to help us support the charity space provided by Our Big Picture, where possible.

Some exciting news for a wonderful project in Grimsby.

Our Big Picture has received £164,982 from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to establish a new Heritage Hub for North East Lincolnshire.
