🖤 Black History Month at Amnesty Malvern

Our new window display celebrates Black History Month and this year’s theme, ‘Honouring our Communities’.

We recognise and celebrate the historic and contemporary contributions of Black people in Britain, and the many stories that deserve to be read, shared and remembered.

We also want to celebrate the people in our own local community whose everyday contributions help shape, support and sustain the society we share. Their work may not always be recognised, but it matters.

Pop in to explore our books and stories celebrating Black history, culture and achievement, and join us in honouring the people who make our communities what they are. 🖤

📚 A little poetry for the soul…

A poem
For the soul is balm
What sweeter music?
It instills a sense of calm

A poem
Should be read out loud
Just to yourself, as you wonder,
Lonely as a cloud!

Poetry can be many things — a celebration, a source of hope, an expression of love, or simply a little moment of joy. 💛

Discover a poetry book at your local Amnesty Bookshop, with plenty to choose from for just a few pounds. What a bargain!

Come in, browse our shelves and find a few words to brighten your day. 📖

🍂 September Reset… extended into October! 🍂

Because, honestly, who has time to think about these things in just one month?! 😘

Our September Reset is all about taking a little breather after a wonderful summer, taking stock and looking after ourselves in small, simple ways before the colder months arrive.

Maybe it’s reading a little more, taking a short walk, learning a new hobby, or simply slowing down and noticing the changing seasons around us.

Whatever your reset looks like, we have plenty of books to inspire you. 📚🍂

Come in, browse and find your next little bit of inspiration!

We’ve got a lovely selection of Virago Modern Classics in the shop at the moment, celebrating women writers whose work might otherwise have been forgotten or overlooked.

From Elizabeth von Arnim and Rebecca West to Winifred Holtby and Vita Sackville-West, there are stories here spanning love, friendship, independence, war, marriage and women finding their own way in the world.

There are some particularly beautiful older Virago editions on the shelves too, perfect if you’re someone who can’t resist a good vintage book cover!

REDUCED BOOKS!!

We’ve got plenty of reduced books in the shop at the moment, covering pretty much everything from fiction, cookery, gardening, history to children’s books and lots more.

A good excuse to pick up something you might not normally choose (or leave with a slightly bigger pile than planned).

This trolley can be found just outside the shop door, so come and take a look. 😁
