🌾 AUGUST 23rd, 2026.
WHAT THE HARVEST REVEALS.
Yesterday, the hands began to sort the harvest.
Today, they find the bruise beneath the skin.
We remain within the eclipse corridor, eleven days beyond the Leo Solar Eclipse and five days from the Pisces Lunar Eclipse. The Sun is now in Virgo, the Moon moves through Capricorn, and the first major solar aspect of Virgo Season is a trine to Chiron in Ta**us.
That is quite an opening.
Virgo entered yesterday asking us to sort, tend and discern.
Today, it shows us what requires care.
Not because everything uncomfortable needs fixing.
But because a good healer, herbalist, witch, craftsperson or keeper of the land learns very quickly that you cannot tend something properly until you have noticed what is actually wrong.
💫 TODAY’S ENERGY.
The Capricorn Moon begins by opposing Mars in Cancer.
Capricorn says: keep going.
Cancer says: something here needs protecting.
One speaks through responsibility, the other through instinct, memory and feeling. And we may notice the tension between what needs doing and what we genuinely have the capacity to carry.
Then comes one of today’s most important movements.
The newly arrived Virgo Sun trines Chiron in Ta**us.
Earth speaks to Earth.
Virgo examines. Ta**us embodies. Chiron reveals the place where experience has left something tender.
This can bring attention towards the body, security, resources, worth, stability and the places where survival itself has taught us certain habits.
But I would not reduce Chiron to the familiar phrase “the wounded healer.”
Chiron teaches through what cannot simply be erased.
Some experiences are not removed from us. We learn how to carry them differently. We develop knowledge because we have lived beside something long enough to understand its terrain.
And Virgo asks a far more useful question than:
How do I make this disappear?
It asks:
What does this actually need?
Later, the Capricorn Moon squares Saturn in Aries and then Venus in Libra.
By the end of the day, all four Cardinal signs have entered the conversation.
Cancer protects.
Libra relates.
Capricorn carries responsibility.
Aries preserves autonomy.
You may not be able to satisfy every demand equally today.
That is not necessarily failure.
Sometimes discernment means knowing what must be tended first.
🌑 THE ECLIPSE CORRIDOR.
Eleven days behind us.
Five days ahead.
We are getting close now.
And there is something particularly interesting about Chiron appearing here, between a Leo Solar Eclipse and a Pisces Lunar Eclipse.
Eclipses disturb familiar light.
Chiron shows us where experience remains tender.
Virgo asks us to look carefully before Pisces opens the waters.
Yesterday we began sorting the basket.
Today we discover that some things cannot simply be divided into keep and discard.
Some things need tending.
Some need repairing.
Some need resting.
Some need understanding.
Some need stronger boundaries around them.
And some have already become part of who we are.
There is a tendency within modern spiritual language to make release the answer to everything.
Release the wound.
Release the past.
Release the attachment.
Release the pattern.
But anyone who has walked a spiritual path for long enough knows that transformation is more complicated than that.
Some things are released.
Some are integrated.
Some become wisdom.
Some become boundaries.
Some become medicine.
And some become the reason we recognise another person’s pain when they place it before us.
The approaching Pisces Lunar Eclipse may eventually ask something to leave.
Virgo first asks us to understand what we are holding.
🌾 THE WHEEL.
Here upon my own Wheel, we continue travelling between Lughnasadh and Mabon.
And anyone who has ever gathered fruit understands today’s teaching.
Not every apple upon the tree ripens perfectly.
Some carry marks.
Some have been pecked by birds.
Some have fallen.
Some are bruised.
And the experienced hand does not automatically throw every imperfect fruit away.
It looks.
It turns it over.
It knows the difference between a bruise that can be cut away, fruit that should be used immediately, something suitable for preserving and something that genuinely needs returning to the earth.
That is discernment.
And it is exactly where Virgo belongs within the harvest.
The keeper does not demand perfection from what the season has grown.
She learns how to work with what is actually there.
For those walking another expression of the seasonal Wheel elsewhere upon the Earth, the teaching remains the same. Look at what your land is showing you now.
Growth has its conditions.
Rest has its conditions.
Harvest has its conditions.
So does healing.
The witch pays attention to them.
🧙 THE OLD WAYS.
Before healing became something purchased in a bottle, much of it began with observation.
Which plant?
Which part?
What season?
What preparation?
What quantity?
For what purpose?
The root and leaf of the same plant are not necessarily interchangeable. A herb gathered at one stage of growth may not carry precisely the same properties as it does at another. Drying, steeping, infusing, grinding and storing each change what happens next.
Knowledge mattered.
This is one of the reasons I resist the modern tendency to reduce witchcraft to correspondences.
Rosemary does not become “for protection” and stop there.
The Craft asks us to know what we are working with.
Virgo belongs to that precision.
And there is another old practice worth remembering today: mending.
Cloth was patched.
Tools repaired.
Handles replaced.
Jars reused.
Food preserved.
Objects maintained rather than immediately discarded.
There is magic within repair because repair requires us to understand how something was made in the first place.
Perhaps that is one of today’s quieter teachings.
Not everything showing wear has reached the end of its usefulness.
✨THE GODS BESIDE THE WORKBENCH.
Lugh remains strongly present as Virgo Season begins.
The many skilled one belongs wherever knowledge becomes craftsmanship. A tool in an untrained hand is merely an object. Skill changes what becomes possible through it.
And from the Northern current, Eir enters today’s teaching.
Eir is associated in the Norse sources with healing and medical skill, and that word skill matters. Healing here is not simply wishing suffering away. There is knowledge involved. Care. Knowing what to do and when to do it.
Beside her I would keep Sif from yesterday.
Something was taken from Sif and could not simply be put back as though nothing had happened. What followed required extraordinary craftsmanship from the smiths of Norse lore.
The result did not erase what had occurred.
It created another form.
And that sits beautifully beside Chiron today.
Healing does not always mean becoming the person you were before something happened.
Sometimes there is no road backwards.
There is only the question of what can now be made from what remains.
Lugh brings skill.
Eir brings healing knowledge.
Sif carries transformation after loss.
Chiron carries wisdom acquired through the tender place.
And Virgo places all of it upon the workbench.
💜 THROUGH THE EYES OF A MEDIUM.
The sorting table remains this morning.
But one piece of fruit has been placed separately.
I see a hand turn it over.
There is a bruise upon one side.
And strangely, nobody throws it away.
The hand simply rests there for a moment.
That is the image Spirit keeps returning me to.
And it reminds me of something I have seen repeatedly through years of mediumship.
People often believe that healing should eventually mean not feeling something anymore.
Grief is one of the clearest examples.
But grief does not always disappear because healing has occurred.
Sometimes healing means the memory no longer destroys the day.
You can speak their name.
You can remember the room.
You can hear the song.
You can feel them close.
The love remains.
The absence remains.
But your relationship with both has changed.
Spirit does not always come through to remove grief.
Sometimes those who have passed come through because love has learned another way to exist.
That is very different.
And if an old tenderness rises today, I would not immediately ask:
Why am I still feeling this?
I would ask:
How differently am I carrying this now?
There may be far more healing in that answer than you realise.
🕯️ PRACTICAL WITCHCRAFT.
Keep your eclipse stone undisturbed.
Keep the key.
Keep yesterday’s preservation jar.
We are building this working deliberately across the corridor rather than performing unrelated rituals every day.
Today, take a piece of natural thread.
Hold it between both hands and think of something in your life that is not broken, but requires care.
That distinction matters.
Tie one knot.
Not nine.
Nine belongs to completion and we are not completing anything today.
One knot marks attention.
As you tie it, say:
I see what asks for tending.
I give care where care is due.
I do not mistake tenderness for weakness.
Tie the thread around the neck of your preservation jar.
Then leave it.
Do not ask it to heal everything.
Do not load it with ten intentions.
The working has one purpose:
to acknowledge what you have chosen to tend.
A witch should know what her working is for.
🕯️ DAILY PRACTICE.
Before you push through something today, ask:
Does this require effort, or does it require care?
They are not the same.
Sometimes effort is exactly what is needed.
Sometimes another hour at the desk is not discipline.
Sometimes saying yes is not kindness.
Sometimes keeping the peace is not balance.
Sometimes continuing is not strength.
Capricorn can carry enormous weight.
Mars in Cancer can defend fiercely.
Saturn can endure.
Venus can accommodate.
But wisdom knows when each of those gifts has become excess.
🜃 THE EARTH REMEMBERS.
There is something else about today’s Earth emphasis that I would not overlook.
Virgo Sun.
Chiron in Ta**us.
Capricorn Moon.
Three Earth signs carrying much of today’s story.
Earth records consequence.
Walk the same path repeatedly and a track forms.
Water the same ground and something grows.
Neglect it and something else grows.
Work with your hands for years and the skill eventually lives within them.
This is how practice becomes Craft.
Not because we performed something once beneath a spectacular Moon.
Because we returned.
Again.
And again.
Until knowledge became embodied.
Our ancestors understood this because survival demanded it.
The herbalist learned the plants through seasons.
The smith learned the metal through heat.
The weaver learned tension through thread.
The farmer learned the field through weather.
The witch learned her Craft by practising it.
There are forms of knowledge that cannot be hurried because time itself is one of their ingredients.
That is Virgo’s Earth magic.
✨ THE MYSTERY.
The story continues.
The mist obscured the road.
The well took us beneath.
The shadow revealed.
The crossroads demanded awareness.
The torch illuminated.
The basket gathered.
The hands began to sort.
And today,
one thing upon the table asks to be tended.
Perhaps this is where the harvest becomes truly sacred.
Not when everything is perfect.
But when we know what to do with what isn’t.
Lugh brings skill.
Eir brings knowledge of healing.
Sif reminds us that restoration does not always mean returning to what was.
Chiron reveals what experience has taught through tenderness.
Virgo examines carefully.
Capricorn asks what can endure.
And Pisces waits five days ahead with the eclipse waters.
There will be things to release.
But not today.
Today we learn something more difficult.
How to care for what remains.
✨ BLESSING.
May Lugh bring skill to the work placed before your hands.
May Eir guide you towards the care that is actually needed.
May Sif remind you that another form can still hold beauty and value.
May Chiron reveal the wisdom already living beside the tender places.
May Virgo give you discernment without demanding perfection.
May Capricorn give you strength without teaching you to mistake exhaustion for resilience.
May Mars protect what genuinely requires protection.
May Venus remind you that reciprocity includes allowing yourself to receive.
May your ancestors and guides stand close wherever old tenderness carries memory.
And wherever upon this Earth you stand, may you recognise that the living world does not heal by returning to yesterday.
It heals by continuing to grow around what has changed.
Eleven days behind us.
Five days ahead.
The eclipse corridor continues.
The harvest lies upon the table.
And today,
we tend what remains.
Blessed Be.
