There’s a sauna on Druid Street now, and it’s very good.

Druid Street Saunas opened recently, right in the middle of the Beer Mile, and it’s the kind of place you didn’t know the area was missing until it turned up.

Four saunas, all slightly different. A big communal one, a panoramic octagonal one, and two smaller ones if you want something quieter. Three cold plunges set at different temperatures, so you can ease into it or go straight in at the deep end.

Theo and Olly are behind it. They lived just off the Beer Mile for a couple of years and wanted a sauna close enough to actually build into a routine, so they made one. That’s the whole idea, and you can feel it. Unpretentious and properly affordable.

There’s speciality coffee and Alba Caffe microdrinks at reception too, and seating inside and out, which makes it easy to linger afterwards rather than rushing straight back into the day.

We came out feeling completely reset. Not many places around here do that.

Sessions are self-guided and mixed, with a women-only session every Wednesday evening.

132 Druid St, SE1 2HH
Mon to Fri from 7am, weekends from 8am

As you might have seen, Borough Market has been voted one of the best food markets in the world 🥇

And it’s ours. Walking distance from most of our front doors.

It’s easy to take somewhere for granted when it’s this close. But go on a Wednesday morning, before the crowds land, and you’re reminded exactly what it is. Traders who’ve been there decades. People who know where every wheel of cheese came from and will happily tell you about it. Produce you won’t find anywhere else in London.

It’s the traders that make it. Always has been.

Yes, it gets rammed. Yes, Saturday afternoon is a test of patience. But go midweek, go early, take your time, and it’s one of the best things about living around here.

Congratulations Borough. Long overdue 👏

Strand & Lock has quietly become one of those go-to spots on Bermondsey Street for us - for both men and women - where you just know you’re in good hands.

The team are friendly, relaxed, and every visit just feels easy. No fuss, no pressure, just consistently great hair.

Right next to F*ckoffee, so you can grab a coffee before or after and make a proper little Bermondsey moment out of it.

One of those local gems we keep going back to. ✂️

Try a Ride or Lagree class at PSYCLE because it’s sure to make you sweat!

We went down to Psycle’s London Bridge studio expecting a nice workout. What we got was a very humbling hour of shaking legs, sore abs and a newfound respect for anyone who does Lagree regularly.

Set right next to The Shard, the studio itself is seriously impressive. Beautiful interiors, great changing facilities, friendly staff and the kind of energy that makes you want to stay for a coffee or smoothie afterwards. (some classes come with a smootie, worth checking).

We tried both the Lagree and Ride classes. The Lagree was unlike anything we’ve done before, slower than you’d expect, incredibly controlled and much harder than it looks. Beth was brilliant throughout, helping us navigate every wobble. It was a challenge, but so worth it.

The ride class brought a completely different energy. Dark room, big music, lots of sweat and that feeling of leaving with your head clearer than when you walked in.

What stood out most wasn’t just the workout though. It was how welcoming everything felt. No intimidating gym culture, just great instructors, good vibes and people there to move and sweat together.

If you’re looking for a fitness spot in SE1, this one’s well worth adding to the list.

Ever walked past 42–44 Bermondsey Street and wondered what was actually inside?

We have.

After more than a decade of walking up and down Bermondsey Street, we’d never stepped through the doors. Then earlier this year, a DAMSON MADDER. pop-up finally gave us the excuse.

Inside, we found a huge warehouse space hidden in plain sight. Light-filled, industrial and surprisingly vast for a building we’ve all probably walked past hundreds of times without a second thought.

It felt like one of those very Bermondsey moments. A reminder that some of the area’s most interesting spaces are often the ones hiding behind the most unassuming facades.

What’s particularly interesting is that the site forms part of the Bermondsey Yards redevelopment, which received planning approval in 2023 and is expected to bring significant changes to this section of Bermondsey Street in the coming years.

For now, the space continues to host events, exhibitions and pop-ups, making it one of those rare places many of us have walked past for years without ever seeing inside.

We’re glad we finally got the chance.

Did anyone else spend years walking past this building without ever knowing what was behind those walls?

Amazing Grace London is one of those London Bridge spots that knows how to take you from dinner to dancing.

Set inside the Grade II listed church, it’s now open 7 days a week, with acoustic sets over dinner to house bands, DJs and late-night dancefloor energy.

Food-wise, it’s Pan-Asian plates, sharing dishes and cocktails that make it an easy choice for a night out. And if you needed a reason to start the week properly, they’re now offering 50% off your food bill every Monday.

They’ve also got Live Band Karaoke on Wednesdays, where you can get up and sing with the band, if you’re feeling brave.
Weekend plans?

Their Born Again Brunch runs Saturday and Sunday from 12pm, with bottomless drinks, rum punch and live music.

After-work drinks are sorted too, with Happy Hour Monday to Friday, 4pm to 7pm, including 2-4-1 cocktails and £5 bao if you’re peckish.

Dinner, drinks, live music, brunch, parties…Amazing Grace London kind of does it all. We’ve had a few nights amazing-grace nights here, and loved the food, drinks and dancing!

Definitely one to have on your SE1 list! Save this for later or send to a mate.

We finally tried new Le Grand Roast and honestly, we left very happy. 🍷

Started with the Comté gougères which were ridiculously moreish. Warm, cheesy, soft in the middle and covered in delicate shaved Comté. The courgettes were also incredible.

Then came the roast, beautifully cooked sirloin, flavour-packed chicken & pork, crispy roast potatoes, fluffy Yorkshires and rich gravy. Everything felt thoughtful without being overcomplicated.

The whole restaurant has this chic, relaxed energy to it too. Stylish without feeling pretentious, really friendly service, good wine, great atmosphere. The kind of place you settle into for a long Sunday lunch.

And then the chocolate mousse to finish… chocolate flakes, hazelnut, caramel sauce. Indulgent but balanced perfectly.

All in all, highly recommend booking this one. SE1 done very well.
