So, another heatwave… phew! 🌞🥵
And now a hosepipe ban!! 😳
I’m not a professional gardener by any means, but as a florist you pick up a few tricks over the years, so I thought I’d share a little tip or 2 🌿🌸
Where possible, move your plants and shrubs into the shade to protect them from the strongest sun.
For plants in pots, place them on trays, saucers or dishes that can hold a little water💧 Put water into the tray rather than watering from above, allowing the plant to drink from the bottom. This helps the roots get the water they need.
In this heat, watering from the top can sometimes mean the water is quickly absorbed or evaporates before it reaches where it’s needed most.. the roots!
Also don't be frightened to cut away any dead heads, dried up leaves etc.
