Ben Darnton has loved music all his life and from early days he has collected records and thanks to his parents and grandparents all being into music, he's turned his hobby into his career for over 36 years! Currently celebrating 28 years of survival at the convenient location at 5 Tunsgate, Guildford,Surrey,GU13QT & despite high rents and rates and of course the ever increasing parking charges, the shop continues to thrive. For the last 13 years Ben has organised the increasingly popular monthly Guildford Record Fair in the historic Guildhall located under the clock nearby in the cobbled High Street,Guildford. With 20 stalls of discs and free entry the fair attracts over 700 visitors every time making it one of the busiest record fairs in the UK. Ben is always interested in buying your unwanted records and can sell rare items on a commission basis if preferred so why not drop them in for a no obligation quote? Ben regularly appears on BBC Surrey & Sussex valuing listeners records and the shop is often featured on tv. As well as music Ben loves steam engines and theres a great selection of railway dvds and local Guildford history books always on sale.

On this day in 1985, The Cure released their sixth album, The Head On The Door.

“I am slowing down as the years go by,” lamented 25-year-old Robert Smith on Sinking, the closing track to The Cure’s sixth studio album, but after years of bewildering fluster – and with Simon Gallup back on bass - The Head On The Door was the point where they reconciled their artistic drives with their understanding they could be a proper pop band. In Between Days and Close To Me are perfect hits, an intoxicating distillation of the world they had created, while Six Different Ways, A Night Like This and Push are a joyous flex of their distinctive skillset.

Iain Ballamy is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary British jazz, bringing together remarkable musicianship, imagination and a real sense of adventure.

For this special Guildford Jazz Festival performance, the acclaimed saxophonist is joined by award-winning guitarist Rob Luft, Nick Pini on double bass and Corrie Dick on drums.
