Did you watch Episode 3 of The Great British Sewing Bee? 'Garment of the Week' was won by Anna's dress, made from hand-printed calico.

Anna's choice of fabric for 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle' week reflects how cotton imports affected the UK wool industry during the 17th and 18th centuries. She created the pattern using the botanical printing technique with flowers and leaves from the invasive plant Himalayan balsam.

Himalayan balsam is a major problem because it outcompetes native plants, contributes to severe riverbank erosion, and increases the risk of flooding.
