Fuel prices in London are getting absolutely ridiculous…

Watching the numbers go up at the petrol station feels like watching a taxi meter run during rush hour.

Meanwhile we just pull up, plug the van in and let it charge while we sleep.

Not saying electric vans are perfect…
but they definitely don’t make you cry at the pump.

Most people would just rip this floor out and start again…

But where’s the craftsmanship in that?

Here we’re installing a small section of reclaimed mosaic oak fingers to repair an existing parquet floor. Every single block has to be cleaned, sorted and carefully fitted so the repair blends in with the original floor.

Reclaimed parquet is never straightforward — the blocks vary in size, colour and wear — but when it’s done properly the repair becomes almost impossible to spot once the floor is sanded and finished.

This is the sort of work we love doing.
Saving original wood floors instead of sending them to landfill.

Old floors deserve a second life.

Cleaning dried gap filler off a wood floor can normally be a dusty nightmare… but this is where the Mirka DEROS RS completely changes the game.

In this clip we’re using the Mirka DEROS RS random orbital sander to remove excess gap fill from between oak floorboards before finishing the floor.

What stands out immediately is the dust extraction. When paired with a proper extraction system, the DEROS RS keeps the work area incredibly clean, meaning less airborne dust, a healthier environment and a far more professional finish.

🪵 Sanding an Entire 11m² Oak Floor with the Mirka DEROS RS – Let’s Talk Results.

Today’s job: sanding 11 square metres of solid oak flooring — start to finish — using the Mirka DEROS RS.

No belt sander.
No shortcuts.
Just a random orbital doing real work on real timber.

And honestly… this thing surprised me.

Super balanced, ridiculously smooth, and paired with dust extraction it kept the site clean while still cutting hard. I used it for flattening, refining scratches, and prepping the surface ready for finishing — and it handled the lot without breaking a sweat.

Garage Conversion → Playroom Transformation 🛠️

We were proud to be part of this fantastic home project, helping turn an unused garage into a bright, functional playroom for the family.

The original concrete floor was over 80mm out of level, so we started with a full levelling process, followed by a precision skim coat to create a perfectly smooth, flat base — essential for a high-quality LVT installation.

Once prepped, we supplied and fitted distressed oak LVT from the Textures range, finished with a one-block border to give the room a subtle, premium detail that really frames the space.

The result? A durable, low-maintenance floor with natural wood character — perfect for busy family life and energetic little feet.
