The Truggery - Traditional Sussex Trug Makers

The Truggery - Traditional Sussex Trug Makers Workshop established 1899 for the manufacture of genuine chestnut and willow Sussex Trug Baskets. Shop selling trugs, woven baskets and local crafts.

Images copyright The Truggery Limited unless stated. Sussex Trug Baskets have been made here since 1899 following a long tradition of trugmaking in Herstmonceux. These are genuine Sussex Trugs made of willow and coppiced sweet chestnut. The timber is sourced locally and each piece is shaved with a drawknife. Looking for a real Sussex Trug? Make sure it is made using the correct materials. If it is made of ply then it is not a Sussex Trug.
