Unveil the strange, mysterious, and magical side of the Calder Valley at the Todmorden Information Centre’s brand-new exhibition, Peculiar Tales, open throughout September!

Featuring work from over 10 talented local and regional artists, this collection explores the vibrant folklore, ancient landscapes, and unexplained mysteries that define our town:

Extraterrestrial Encounters: Original paintings and eco-friendly lino prints celebrating Todmorden’s famous UFO history and resident cosmic visitors.

Local Legends & Lore: Intricate ceramics, mixed media, and photography bringing to life the tale of Lady Sybil, the witch of Eagle Crag, and the phantom Gabriel Hounds of Mankinholes.

Ancient Sacred Sites: Fine art photography, archaeological illustration, and mystical witch bottles inspired by the Bridestones, Stoodley Pike, and surrounding megaliths.

Illustrated Maps & Poetry: Hand-drawn regional folklore maps, local zines, and poetic verses exploring the hidden heritage of Yorkshire and Old Lancashire.

Whether you're a lifelong local steeped in town lore or a curious visitor exploring Todmorden for the day, pop in to browse the gallery, support local creators, and take home original prints and artisan gifts.

It's been 25 years since the 9/11 terror attacks on America. On Friday, the nation will remember those lost on that fateful day and take a moment of silence in their memory.

On this quarter-century anniversary of the attacks, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum will add a seventh moment of silence to honor those who have died of illnesses related to their time at or near the World Trade Center site.
