I’m Brian Watson, a luthier from Yorkshire, England. I’ve been a professional bassist and luthier for over 20 years. As a keen musician and bass enthusiast I combine my passion for music with my talent for instrument creation. My aim is to produce high quality bespoke bass guitars, individually suited to the player, designed and handcrafted with the player in mind.

What you see on this website combines my many years of experience, my talent as a musician, luthier, and designer: a unique instrument built with attention to detail, pride and individual service.

Apart from the metal hardware, every wooden component is lovingly designed and hand made to give you a unique instrument that not only looks beautiful, but plays effortlessly and sounds fantastic.

If you look around my small workshop you’ll see there’s not a computer or CNC machine in site. The guitar is crafted from start to finish entirely by my hands and basic machinery. This way I can give the instrument my complete attention to detail.

The wood is chosen and sourced for its rich tonal versatility, and the instrument went through many different versions before I decided that the model you see here gives you the greatest sounding instrument possible.

The 19th of March 2017 was the date of the Northern Guitar Show 2017. It was again held at the Rainton Meadows Arena, Mercantile Road, Houghton-Le-Spring, Tyne and Wear, DH4 5PH.

There was a wealth of cool guitars, pedals, amps, accessories and much more on display. I managed to peruse a load of guitars and gear that I desperately wanted. The stand out bass guitars however were definitely on display from Watson Bass Guitars.

Watson Basses are made by the luthier Brian Watson. As evidenced from the work on these fantastic low note monsters he clearly has a massive talent. Each instrument looked meticulously put together and had interesting unique features.

Each bass guitar is handmade in Yorkshire and is set up and designed to look beautiful but just as importantly to play exquisitely.
