I should be in Croatia now with my pals on a much needed holiday 🥹
But I chose not to go when Kaitlyn became poorly again.
I’m sad about it, don’t get me wrong.
But I can’t be away from Kaitlyn for too long at a time, never mind a completely different country!
We all love going on holiday so much, our last one all together was Gran Canaria in 2022 😅

Magaluf 2024, Ibiza 2025 and now Croatia 2026 …. All cancelled for us 💔

We will all go on holiday again eventually 🫶🏼

I would be poolside now in a stunning Villa getting ready to go to a festival or boat party 😂 Instead I’m enjoying the rain, with a brew in my cup of ‘positiviTEA’ watching my sourdough starter get ready for weekend baking.
But you know what? I’m where I want to be and where I need to be🏠❤️

Kaitlyn’s Picc line is blocked 🥹 but she’s still smiling 🩷 they were unable to take bloods from it yesterday.

Today we go to potentially have a new Picc line fitted, along with IT chemotherapy and Platelet infusion.

Hoping that by doing what we did last week and dose up on anti sickness throughout the day we will skip the sickness tonight 🤞🏼❤️‍🩹

Had some good conversations today.
I just took a deep breath and made them happen.
Kaitlyn’s consultant at Stoke is now doing the referral to see Professor Charles Craddock CBE privately.
This is a huge step, and one that is only possible because of everyone kind donations to Kaitlyn’s GoFundMe🎗️❤️ Professor Charles Craddock CBE is a prominent British haematologist and upon research is the best person to put Kaitlyn in front of 🙏🏼🤞🏼🫶🏼
We are so truly grateful we are able to start this journey of accessing the right treatments for Kaitlyn.

It’s a nice feeling that the team are on board with this request, they completely understand that we need to now open doors for Kaitlyn that could not be opened on the NHS ❤️‍🩹

Some days I wonder how much resilience one person is supposed to have. Lately, I’ve been struggling. Really struggling. From the outside, I’m probably doing what I’ve always done …. get up, crack on, look after everyone, try to keep smiling. But inside, I don’t feel like me anymore.

Every morning I wake up with positivity. I tell myself, today will be a good day. It will be a normal day… But it feels like the days slowly chip away at me. Yesterday was one of those days.

I got up early with a spring in my step, made a Sunday dinner, invited the girls’ friends over, and for a moment I imagined having everyone happy under one roof. Just a normal Sunday. The kind of Sunday most families don’t even think twice about. Instead, it unravelled.

I ended up Wynny’s emotional punchbag, and once my plans start falling apart, I find it so hard to pull myself back out of that place. Maybe my expectations were too high? Maybe I keep chasing a version of “normal” that life just won’t let us have right now. I don’t know.

People always say, “The universe only gives you what you can handle.” But what is it trying to tell me? What is it trying to teach me? Because I genuinely feel like I’ve had enough lemons now to make a lifetime’s supply of lemonade.

I’d quite like a few apples instead….

I’m sooooo tired. Not the kind of tired that sleep fixes. The kind of tired that settles in your soul after years of fight or flight and carrying everyone else’s emotions while quietly trying to hold your own together. I feel like I just try so bloody hard all the time.

I’m grateful for so much right now too. I’m grateful Kaitlyn is home. I’m grateful for my girls, for Gary, for my family, for every person who continues to support us. But I also need to be honest, I’m not okay and I’m not myself.

Some days I feel like I’m just surviving them, waiting for tomorrow and hoping it might be a little kinder than today. Maybe that’s all any of us can do sometimes?

So if you’ve been feeling a bit like this too, please know you’re not alone. And if you’ve got any apples spare… send them my way pretty please 🙏🏼 🍎❤️

Even though yesterday was an extremely long day, we have the rest of the week to be at home 🩷.
I was worried we were going to get to a point where Kailtyn would start to refuse the Intrathecal Chemotherapy because it made her so sick afterwards.
We had a successful one yesterday with no sickness 🧡🎗️
It’s the little things that will make the weeks easier.
Kaitlyn needs to have the IT chemo every week indefinitely to prevent the cells from multiplying.

Going to tackle her bedroom today and make it more accessible for her whilst she still has no sight 💕

Intrathecal Chemotherapy ready ❤️‍🩹

Platelets have stayed a bit more steady this week at 34, this is still too low to safely complete the chemo, so a platelet infusion is being done prior to the procedure. Neutrophils are still very low from today’s blood results so we need to keep an eye on them.
Initial bone marrow results from last weeks test have come back and there are no blasts visible under the microscope, it takes around 2 weeks for the full report to come back showing MRD. (Minimal residual disease)
This is a relief that we are not currently in a bone marrow relapse. We can breathe a little for now.

Repeat bloods on Thursday and we will keep going for now.

Thank you so much for all of the support and donations over the weekend we are honestly blown away and so grateful.
Hoping to move forward on appointments in the next couple of weeks to get some movement on a new plan ❤️
But for today we are stable, and grateful 🫶🏼
