Hey everyone! Been a bit quiet on here lately. Partially because I normally post from instagram and it should post here but it hadn’t been and I’m kinda lazy haha

I carved these theatrical key rings for a teacher of mine from school I found out was retiring, had to do something they were the absolute best!

What do you think? They are a bit rushed but overall I’m happy with them

Finally able to show this! I was asked to make a garden trug to he given as a gift, I had to google it be sure what I was asked to make haha

For one reason or another I haven’t had much chance to finish any projects recently. I was very nervous doing this project, so many new things I would have to teach myself along the way.
Before this I had never made a floating tendon, never made hardwood dowels and I have barely turn my pyrography own on before!

It’s safe to say it has been very well received!

Now I just need to get my bum in gear and finish a few other projects I haven’t been able to get to

It’s that time of year again when I look at my workshop and think “there’s definitely room for a router table here” when there really isn’t.

The question is what brand should I be looking at? Ideally bench top as definitely no room for a stand alone one.
Expecting minimal use so won’t need anything too fancy but something sturdy would be good.

Any help us greatly appreciated

Could not for the life of me find some hardwood dowels for a job I’m doing so had a go at making my own.
Used a 1x1cm strip of oak and sanded away the corners with the orbital sander, then fine sanded it to as round as possible by hand. Worked pretty well! Selected a drill bit as close as possible and went for it.
No pictures of the project yet but they’ll be coming soon.

Super excited to be able to show these now!
I was approached recently by a good friend of mine to make a dice rolling tray and dice vault for their brother and one of my oldest friends. I was 80% ecstatic and 60% terrified….I’m bad at maths…. I was worried it wouldn’t come out well or I wouldn’t finish in time but was so looking forward to seeing the end result.
The tray is made with oak and birch ply and I used leatherette to give the rolling area a softer finish.
The vault started life as a spalted birch log (at least I think it’s birch) in my winter fuel I saw promise in and couldn’t burn. Milled up and squared off it was a perfect fit inside the tray. Used my Katsu palm router to hollow the recess out for the dice. My first time using magnets in all four corners and it was ALMOST perfect just a little sanding and it was flush but I’ve definitely learned from the experience.
So glad has them now and he is getting on with them.

I was gifted some reclaimed parquet flooring, the species of which is a mystery to me. So far I have only made a pen holder and these coasters but they are wonderful little pieces to work with! These were all wrapped up for family at Christmas with a bonus tree ornament to set off the wrapping job, don’t look bad if I say so myself!

Looking for some advice folks.

It’s upgrade time in my workspace, I’m making a few changes, moving a few things around and adding insulation, lighting and dust sheets to keep the mess contained.

Also looking at getting myself a shop vac to get me started, will be using for general clear up tasks but also hoping to attach it to my bandsaw and sander potentially.

Does anyone have any experience with wet / dry vacuum for such use?
