⛰️ Happy Mountain Day! 🇯🇵

Standing at 3,776 metres, Mount Fuji is Japan's highest mountain and one of its most iconic landmarks. Every summer, hundreds of thousands of people take on the challenge of reaching the summit to watch the unforgettable sunrise above the clouds.

If climbing Mount Fuji is on your Japan bucket list, preparation is key. From knowing the official climbing season and booking requirements to packing the right gear, a little planning will help make your adventure safer and more enjoyable.

⚠️ In recent years, one of the biggest safety concerns has been visitors attempting to climb in casual clothing, such as trainers, sandals or everyday outfits, without proper hiking equipment.

To help keep everyone safe, Japan has introduced stricter regulations. Climbers who are not properly equipped may be turned away or not allowed to continue on the trail.

If you're planning to climb Mount Fuji, be sure to wear suitable hiking boots and bring appropriate clothing and gear. Even in summer, conditions near the summit can be cold, windy and unpredictable.

Swipe through for our beginner-friendly guide to climbing Mount Fuji.

🥢can you beat Hiromi?
To celebrate Chopsticks day on 4th August (Hashi no hi), Naomi gave Hiromi a fun challenge… using only chopsticks!!

From easy pick to bit of tricky ones, Hiromi tested her chopstick skills.

Chopsticks are important cutlery in Japan. We practiced to use them when we were little. We normally used such as Daizu (Soy beans) and Ohajiki (Marbles).

Now it’s your turn!
Look around your home 🏠… what can you pick up with chopsticks?🥢

Share your results with us. We would love to see chopstick skills!

🎁 Furoshiki are square cloths designed for wrapping gifts, carrying belongings and reducing waste through reusable wrapping.

🌸 Tenugui are long cotton cloths that have been used in Japan for centuries as hand towels, travel companions, home décor and even wall art.

Although they look similar at first glance, each one tells a different story of Japanese craftsmanship and everyday life.

Which one would you use the most?
