Born Beatrix Potter was an English writer, illustrator, and naturalist, best known for creating beloved children’s books featuring animal characters.
She was born in London in 1866 and had a lifelong love of nature. Her most famous book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, tells the story of a mischievous rabbit and became an international classic. She went on to write and illustrate over 20 children’s books, including tales about Jemima Puddle-Duck, Tom Kitten, and Squirrel Nutkin.
